Who impressed & who needs to get his ass cut (Preseason week 1)

I was very underwhelmed with canales. Sitting all the starters is strike one, 7 oline was strike two, and sticking with Plummer leading to a shutout was strike three. I see no reason to believe this team has improved

If Luton had the whole second half the vibe might be a little more positive around here, and that's on the coach. The whole board was over Plummer by the 2nd quarter

Okay, that was like watching old people f***, I admit. But overall, I'm quite impressed with the defense. Evero showing once again why he is and should be a sought after HC candidate. He really can make chicken salad out of chicken poo.

The offense looked as bad as I expected given that we inexplicably rested our starters. And the really sad part is I don't expect much improvement when they are on the field.

It would be funny as hell to see Tepper can another HC but if this team looks like they did tonight all year long then you absolutely cannot let Evero walk out the door

I am VERY pro offensive minded HC but Evero just seems like a damn good coach period

I think Evero should have been hired as coach.  He is clearly the best coach and leader on this team.

I'm willing to bet he will get more time next week.

He was more qualified than Canales.

He's also more capable of running his established defense while also dealing with Head Coach responsibilites. Canales has to be qb whisperer which he obviously did nothing for Plummer, play caller and head coach in a brand new system. If he wasn't already in his own head he's going to be after this poo show when the press actually has something to critic him on whenever he'll actually do a presser because it seems like they're avoiding doing one tonight

I would have done anything to fire John Fox and hire an offensive coach ~20 years ago.  But man I feel like I've seen enough.  We need a defensive coach.  REPENT

I mean Wilks had our best offense in the last like 4 years with like a week to turn it around

Just goes to show you the impact that really good coaching can have.  Most people would say we lack talent on defense, but you can see the coaching in how they play.  The tackling is sound.  The fundamentals are there.  People are on point.

Very discouraging about the offense.

Yeah and it was there last year too. He is good at his job.

It could hold a guy like him back because he could actually be a better hands on coach and defensive strategy than a staff and player manager.

Plummer was bad, but the reality is when bryce looks the same the narrative wil be different. And that's when the jumping hurdles will come out.

There just isn't an elite talent on this roster to mask how bad it is.

    • Week 1 of the 2024 season is finally upon us. The moment we've all been waiting for has arrived. After much debate and suffering, we Panther's fans finally get to see our new team under new HC Canales. There's very little hope around for the new season with most fans just too damaged after consecutive years of terrible Panther's football that expectations are low with most set on being content if the Panther' can just win 4-5 games and not finished dead last again.  This morning I went to the NFL network to see the game predictions fully expecting the Saints to be the unanimous choice to win today but much to my surprise that wasn't the case. One brave writer is swimming against the flow and has picked Carolina to win today's game in New Orleans versus the hated Saints. That's right, Gannaro says we're gonna win this one and this is why. As you can see above. He believes the changes we've made on offense this off season will be the difference maker against our division foe. The Saint's roster is old but they are under a new offensive system for the first time in years. Their offensive line is bad and he says we've done more to improve ours so he's giving us the nod in game 1.  I want to believe. I really do, and as the game approaches I can't help but look at my refrigeratore where and have a freshly made pitcher of Tropical Punch Kool-aid chilling before game time. Over the next few hours I and we have a tough decision to make. To drink or not to drink, that is the question. So fans, are you drinking the Kool-aid today or not? Please tell us your beverage today and why.
    • Oh yeah, not expecting much, I think he's maybe just brought in as a hype man/special teams hitter specifically for this game. I just find his Twitter honest and entertaining lol. He's CB7 on our depth chart so yeah
    • Meh. He played well on the special teams units but despite safety becoming a dire position we needed a warm body at, he was a complete non-factor on defense to justify keeping him around. He averaged 10.2 defensive snaps per game across 12 games last year and couldn't overtake Howden or Abram for the position (both of whom were brought back this year). Maybe he'll play better at CB for y'all but I wouldn't hold out much hope. As mid of a head coach Allen may be, he knows his stuff regarding the secondary so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on it.
