If we draft Ewers I will legitimately be done with this team, happy to eat crow but I just don't see that guy being a good NFL QB, he's a big name that people know that's it.

For the love of good Tepper if you are reading this. We are not "just" a QB away. Please use this draft to trade down and build the team. Unless there is an obvious 1.1 QB there at seasons end do not reach for QB just to have your new shiny toy. This team sucks ass

I said what I said

Are we being reactive again?

Yep. His offense was clearly outmatched by UGA’s defense. Not sure that affects the prospect too much. I thought he was a bottom half of the first guy anyway so it doesn’t matter to me unless he falls to the 2nd.

He took a kill shot from an unblocked free rusher who might as well have announced he was coming. He looked like Bryce young out there: Bryce in the nfl I mean

Neither Ewers or Beck really ever struck me as high level NFL prospects.

There’s going to be a weird rumor coming out about beck like he had nerve damage from finishing his sleeve because he has looked progressively worse over the past seven or so games.

kinda like how Blair Walsh was dumped by his girlfriend and couldn’t kick anymore.

Wouldn't touch either of these guys in the first three rounds personally.

This feels very much like the Kenny Pickett draft to me. We hype up these guys all year then come draft time the media acts shocked when teams don't want to overdraft them

I would be ecstatic if Beck or Ewers fell to the 3rd.  Ewers just had a bad game vs an incredible defense.  He still has a ton of good tape.  Beck has incredible physical tools and great mechanics its just his processing that I struggle with but IMO both would be great value late 2nd/3rd.  Perfect guys to draft to sit and develop.   I mean Beck had some great games last year vs ranked teams and good defenses and same with ewers this year.  He picked apart Mich.  Last night was just brutal as his line just gave up

It's insane how so many in sports media - and some fans - are pushing Beck and Ewers as franchise QBs while nit-picking every reason in the world why Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward aren't.

I think both Sanders and Ward have legit franchise QB potential; I wouldn't touch Beck before the 3rd round and Ewers before the 5th. It's as clear cut a case of QBs being propped up by the talent around them as I've seen. Sanders has Travis Hunter and that's it; Ward has a good team around him at Miami, but has proven at Washington State he can carry a team that's not stacked with talent.

My top-5 QBs as of right now:

1. Shedeur Sanders (Top-10)
2. Cam Ward (Top-10)
3. Garrett Nussmeier (2nd-3rd round)
4. Jalen Milroe (2nd-3rd round)
5. Carson Beck (3rd round)

My personal favorite QB right now in this coming draft class is Garrett Nussmeir from LSU... I truly believe the dude has that moxie, it factor to be a star in the NFL and LSU has produced a couple of good QBs lately with Jayden Daniels and Joe Borrow. We will have to figure out a way to gain a 2nd round pick though.

    • This is gonna be longest six weeks ever
    • This 1000%.  Hey who wants to sign with the guy that couldn't even get his client the guaranteed contract of a 3rd round pick?  Lmao
    • I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
