Would quarterbacks avoid Carolina Panthers in NFL Draft?

I am still just flabbergasted that some of these so called experts continue on with how we did Bryce.  It is straight up simple, he sucks!  It has nothing to do with the talent around him, nothing, if he were on the 49'ers guess what?  He would still suck!  He just isn't an NFL QB, there is nothing he has shown to prove otherwise.  H3ll a broken clock is right twice a DAY, Bryce hasn't been right twice in over a year, he is JUST NOT GOOD!

But on topic, no, no QB is going to do this

  • If I recall correctly the whole Eli thing wasn't because Eli didn't want to play there it was because his dad had beef with the Chargers front office.
  • There has now, nor ever been proof that Andrew Luck stayed in school an extra year to avoid us and if he did, that was under a different regime

Any QB that belongs in the number 1 pick, and I'm sure even Bryce was of this mindset, has to come in knowing they are on the worst team in the NFL and believing they can change that.

The media shot callers need a narrative to cover that they got it completely wrong. They crowned him and in reality he is laughably bad. It exposed them for the echo chamber yes men lemmings that they really are. They take their marching orders and report as ordered until the narrative is allowed to change from their shot callers. Anything that paints one of the chosen CFB programs negatively is never going to be a headline.

Don’t expect it to change in to an ‘our bad’ we got it wrong any time soon, at least on the big stage.

Our line may start getting some credence eventually but the Bryce turmoil may need to simmer down first.

There’s quite a few teams they need to boycott then. Most teams drafting at the top are questionable organizations.

Just a bunch of media heads who can’t admit they were wrong about Bryce. Hell, most of us who actually watch the games knew Bryce wasn’t it or going to work out around game 3 or 4 last year. If he was worth a damn, he would’ve shown some flashes last year. He had a good 4th qtr against the Packers last year. That’s it.

I know this is a popular cope on this forum, but I think it's a cynical take.

True--they could all be covering for being wrong about Bryce, but they're wrong about other prospects and deals and those franchises don't draw the ire that's been directed at Charlotte.

Also true--the Carolina Panthers has been one of the worst run mom-and-pop franchises in modern US sports history. The Panthers are such as easy target that the media can loudly point at the franchises track record (especially with Tepper) and no one will contradict them...because they kinda can't.

Let's face it. Our franchise is mediocre trash, and other than lucking into a few decent seasons outside the Cam years, has usually been mediocre trash in a market most media types don't care about. Doesn't excuse Bryce, but easily explains why all but a handful of media types point at the team and not the player. Easy pickins.

I agree. The panthers, in its current state, is a trash bag organization. It’s horribly ran, and has been for some time.

Bryce Young seems to be a good person. He’s not a good player, though. It’s been apparent for awhile that he wasn’t good or ever gonna be good. The panthers, and how they’ve been ran, exposed that quickly

Except we weren't the worst team in the NFL in 2022, were the 9th worst record. Close to the TOP of the bottom third.

We got a whole lot worse drafting him and sending DJ away. And the injured guards up front took us down.

IOW I don't think that is really that big of an excuse for him. And have no argument on his lack of NFL aptitude. He comes up short!

We don't have a lot of time to enjoy our short puns... use them up.

If one of you guys were a QB in next years draft, would you guys want to come here with the lack of organization and plan? It's your NFL career, they may pay you a lot of money to be #1 pick, but you also don't want to flame out in 1.5 years and not get a chance to prove yourself anymore. What kind of questions would you ask Dan and Dave when you sit for 1 on 1 interviews at the combine? If I was a top QB, I wouldn't come here.

Well, if I had a brain that could think and reason properly and take in information, I would know that the people coaching me are not the people that brought all that dysfunction to the Panthers.

That's one thing. The other is you could ruin your career if you grandstand like that and don't back it up by being hot poo.

There are a lot of angles.

    • I felt pretty good about us making progress this season, surprising some people, and getting some more wins than last season going into it.  Now, after preseason, my expectations are much, much lower. I was talking with my friend who is a Bears fan, and we were discussing their drubbing of the Bills and how people try to dismiss it as “preseason, so it doesn’t count.”  It absolutely counts.  Not the wins or losses.  No one really cares about that.  But what the Bears are doing shows that even in a vanilla, non-specific scheme, they are executing at an elite level and they are disciplined.  It shows they are well coached.  They see growth in their players.  Versus us - hard to tell what we’re looking at because everything is a fuging mess.  In games we’re still undisciplined, be it penalties or assignments.  We do NOT execute.  We got random coaches calling plays that won’t be calling plays during the season, we have our players getting into fights in the last padded practice of the preseason, then we have Bryce and Chuba trying to correct it while our coach sat off to the side laughing.  To be clear, I like Canales.  He seems like a good dude.  But, it feels like we have very little direction and discipline.  You’re allowing a team who has been historically bad the last almost decade, with a losing culture that mostly bereft of talent to self-police?  You’re allowing subordinates to work in pet projects at the expense of getting valuable reps and evaluation of players in during games?     My friend literally brought up last night that when Ben Johnson got there he essentially put DJ Moore in notice because it was starting to be perceived that he was displaying some diva-behavior.  That’s leadership.  And they’re reaping the benefits early and setting a tone.  My friend said there is an excitement and confidence in and around their team that’s he’s never felt his entire life.  And here we are, sounding and looking like The Bad News Bears in our final week of training camp and preseason.  I literally stopped watching after halftime last week.  I used to watch every play faithfully, even in 2001 and 2010.  It was fun.  This isn’t.  We are bad and our administration keeps making bad decisions to compound things.  Reading poo like this today is just fuging deflating.
    • With so much of the focus the past couple years being on offense, the defense has definitely taken a backseat to the talent available in the draft. I get it, they want to surround their number one draft pick QB with offensive playmakers but unfortunately that has come with a price that so far has not worked Let’s hope the offense and Bryce Young put it together this year or it’s going to be another rebuild next year with another new QB.
    • I was intrigued by him but always said it comes down to the interview process and talking to his former coaches, etc. You gotta find out if he's coachable and has the mental makeup. I think we've found the answer. LOL
