This is a rare moment when the Huddle was quite on point about the glaring issues regarding our center position and how it would bite this team hard if something bad happened.

Although at this point it's largely irrelevant due to the complete lack of a defense and other injuries.

Just one of those shrugs moments

Except that one player looks like he might be a 10+ year starting/possibly Pro Bowl player and the other is the guy we drafted.

I'm fine with taking a RB high as a special RB is still a franchise boost. I also know you can't build Rome in a day. This will take years. In this instance, we are building from less than scratch and a decade plus starter at center over a guy that is currently hurt, best back in draft or not, really was a head scratcher. But if Corbett doesn't get hurt, he was playing well, and this is not as big a deal. Every team is a decimating injury away from being ass out at one position.

Upcoming draft this year, its hog molly time!

Of the top 15 RB's in rushing yardage this season, 7 are 1st or 2nd round picks and 8 are 3rd to UDFA.

This is why most smart teams that don't have an immediate need at RB don't draft RB's in the 1st or 2nd round.

Guess what we didn't have an immedate need for? Especially considering our 5th leading rusher in the NFL and 4th round draft pick is still on his rookie deal.

Another fun stat is the top 4 leading rookie rushers are from the 4th round or lower.

I have harped on this since the days we signed that idiotic CMC contract, smart teams don't spend crazy money or draft capital on RB's.

    • The panthers are such a trash organization at this point that all the huddle can do is argue about which panthers team is historically the worst…good times.
    • Well, hope they're not worried about a torn Labrum or Rotator Cuff, as someone who went through that myself, I know those don't have anything show up on X-Rays but from the MRI, so this is kinda a nothing update, hope it's not a tear or his season is already over if they decide to do surgery now. Which is basically what would be needed to get him to 100% for the start of next season's training camp if it's a labrum.  If he plays the season with it and then does surgery, he's not going to be ready for camp and probably not the start of the season either.
    • I always try to not pay much attention to a team’s preseason win/loss record. The 1982 Washington and 2021 LA Rams both lost every game in the preseason and went on to win the Super Bowl, whereas the 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns both won every game in reason and went on to lose every regular season game. There’s many examples of teams that lose in preseason that go on to have good seasons, but equally there are teams that lose in preseason and that continues in the regular season. Which will we be?  I think our floor is a handful of wins, while our ceiling will probably be around the 9-10 win mark. The latter will require significant improvement from the whole team and coaching staff, and will also need Bryce to play like the QB we drafted him to be. I want to be optimistic and predict a winning season, but it’s really difficult as a Panthers fan!
