Your Targets for the 2025 Draft

Problem is I don’t think this EDGE class has anyone top-15 worthy.  The higher touted guys have been banged up and underperforming. Makes me hope we can crank out some wins and develop our young guys a bit. If you put this edge group with last few years, I don’t think any touch Verse/Latu/Turner as prospects.

They kind of fall into that Chop Robinson/Will McDonald type tier. None of the guys are that well rounded and none are real pass disrupters.

if we don’t go QB, IDL or DB may be our best bet in considering the talent at the top of this class.

There's a lot of decent edge players in this draft but none of them really stand out as being worthy of a top 5 pick thus far.

There's no Myles Garrett/Nick Bosa/Aiden Hutchinson in this draft seemingly.

I dont think Id want an edge in the 1st unless we traded down or something. Or some player just explodes before the college season ends.

Kyle Kennard DE from South Carolina is cooking this year. Prime target with our 2nd rounder from the Rams.

Yeah, I think people sometimes get caught up looking at just prospects who they deem as elite. Just like every draft there will end up being good players who didn't project as elite prospects and the smart teams will find them. In other words, I don't like our chances. LOL

Finding the guys in that good tier that just need a bit of tapping into is key.

No matter the position, we haven’t been able to land the Tuli, Brents, Byron Young, Kobie Turner, T Stevenson’s of the world. We keep just missing in that and zeroing in on certain types at that lovely WR spot.

That BC kid Donavan Ez-something is another in that mold who could be blooming.

Antwaun Powell-Ryland is a Hokie I'm interested in seeing hopefully in the senior bowl and underwear Olympics. He has had a knack getting to the QB. Mid to late round guy. He's gonna need at least 1-2 years development to really be in on most downs. Never going to be that run stuffer and tackles will always be able to run him over when teams run downhill. Little different than barno, who never will have the anchor to be more than a pass rush specialist or special teams guy. Barno has freakish length and speed but no anchor. Powell has better anchor, more compact, and isn't 100% a liability in the run

We need to get away from drafting WRs in the 2nd round in particular. none of them have worked with the exception of Musin Muhammad. Draft fuging defense. EDGE, LB, CB, DT. Have at it.

Feel we should go D.  So an edge player.

is QB the biggest need? Sure.  But we have been so horrific while fixated on that for a half decade… I would focus on just building a functional team for a year or so.  No draft picks assets to QB.  Pay a vet.

Not a great class at DE/Edge. BPA, even if that means passing on an edge rusher in the top 5.

There is some good pass rushers in this class but nobody worth taking top 5 maybe even top 10. I have been saying that..... but we can definitely fix the position later in the draft tho. It's a lot of guys I like in this draft on the D line.

I think our first pick has to be a player thats gonna make the biggest impact and that's at any position on this team including QB.

    • This 1000%.  Hey who wants to sign with the guy that couldn't even get his client the guaranteed contract of a 3rd round pick?  Lmao
    • I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
