I can see the Cowboys wanting Hubbard as well.  I didn't watch the whole game but I think Zek ended up with the most yards and that was like 40.

Package both of them together for a this year second and next year conditional 4th, could be a third depending on performance

I'm interested in who they move more than for what. He was a good short term rental but getting anything for him is a win. Hubbard is tougher but absolutley the right move also. Just stick with Sanders and that idiotic contract they gave him and hope Brooks is decent.

There is no way in the world the Panthers get a 3rd rounder for Diontae Johnson.

that is the rumored asking price.  I do like the idea of packaging Hubbard and getting a second.  I love Hubbard, but he is in a contract year (I believe) and we need to spend our money on a position not called "running back".  Brooks will be ready and Sanders' contract aint moving.

Here are variables to support the reasons Jones might bite--

  • His age  (how many seasons does Jones have left?)
  • His gamble this season (He already shoved all chips to the pot)
  • His ego (he emptied his wallet and he is his own GM--face saving is worth a third)
  • His salary cap (eliminates all expensive options)

So if you consider the variables, a $1 bottle of water is worth $2 in the desert.

Yes.  Johnson's only value at this time is to trade; after November 5, he is worthless (even if he goes over 1000 yards and we go 2-15.)  If you think about Pittsburgh and Tomlin, they do not pay talented WRs who are locker room cancers to hang around.  His value right now lies in the fact that he is a top level talent who can be had on the cheap for a playoff run with 10 games left in the regular season.  His value is higher now that it would be in August or March.  In fact, whoever gets him is not obligated to keep him--so there is no real buyer's remorse.  After seeing his Cowboys fall short to SF when Lamb was all they had to throw to with no running game, I think 80-year old "All In" Jones might think a third rounder is well worth the boost his offense would get this year.  How many "A" level WRs are there with a price tag of $3m?    It is a seller's market.

Should be able to get a day 2 pick easily. The guy gets open damn near every single play and he's got YAC chops as well. Seriously this dude with a legit QB would be a 1200+ yards guy. Outside of Moore he's our best WR since Smitty.

Yep, would love to keep him, but not with a poor attitude and many other needs on the roster.

I mid-round pick that the Panthers will chose a player that will never contribute to the team.  Trading away good players for draft picks only work if you know how to draft....which the Panthers do not.  However, the Panthers probably have no choice if DJ no longer wants to be here.  Who can blame him.

Jones is also the kind of owner to give Johnson the deal he is looking for but they don't have to do that at the time of the trade.

    • I’ve seen mock drafts have us picking the OSU DT Kayden McDonald. If he is BPA I’m for it. I still remember the days we had Short and Star anchoring our DLine on the best Panther defense. https://catcrave.com/panthers-forecasted-baffle-fans-with-first-round-decision-2026-nfl-draft
    • Not the best year to need a HC. I haven't heard much about the Texans DC getting any looks
    • I have not seen a good fit yet as a HC hire. Honestly, Saleh is probably the best one and that’s not saying much. Miami- Hired a DC with an average defense. Check the rest of his resume. It also doesn’t solve your main problem at QB with Tua/Ewers, etc. Clear downgrade from Mike McDaniel. The owner obviously thought he had a shot at Harbaugh and fired McDaniel to throw his hat in, Waller has an interview that gives the impression of this. Atlanta- Stefanski has won like 6 games in 2 years. Carried a few years ago by his defense. Defense has gotten older and he got exposed. Brought into Atlanta with a DC he didn’t hire. No idea what they are going to do at QB, no 1st round pick, a lot of resigning. Oh and their Dan Morgan/John Lynch/ John Elway guy is Matt Ryan who has not worked in the front office at all. At least Dan was a scout, director, asst GM, etc. New York-Not bad really but he’s only going to be as good as his OC. Joe Schoen is still the guy getting your talent, and good luck playing Dak Prescott, The Eagles D, and Jayden Daniels 6 times per year with the NY media writing about everything you’ve done wrong. Tennessee- meh. Probably should have gotten an OC to develop Ward but Saleh can at least make this team aggressive and physical again. I doubt many wanted the job. If Saleh fixes the culture and gets a decent play caller he will be okay. The GM there seems promising. If I had to rank the rest of the openings I’d say: 1-Pittsburgh: Enough talent to be competitive. Have some things to fix at key positions but long history of success and winning is in that building. Plus, you get Baltimore and Cleveland twice per year (I’ll get to that). 2-Baltimore: What in the ever living hell makes you think it’s time to walk away from Harbaugh. He didn’t leave like Tomlin, you fired him then the owner joked about it at the press conference. Who did you ever think you were going to get better than him. Somebody to support Lamar? Like drive him to the practices he never attends? 3-Buffalo I mean you get Josh Allen but they promoted Beane to be their Morgan and if you watched the Press Conference today the owner made Tepper look like Arthur Blank. Basically said he fired McDermott just over losing to the Broncos. Beane got up there and poo on a few players. The two leading candidates are Joe Brady, your current OC and Brian Daboll, your former OC who just got done running a circus on the other side of the state. Like the Ravens, who did you think you would get that was better? 4-Las Vegas Spytek seems competent as a GM and Brady is in the building but there is a real stink culture built into that organization that somebody is going to eventually have to fix. It seems like everyone that gets close (Gruden, Carroll, Pierce) gets fired. At least you have a shot with a potential Franchise QB in Mendoza. 5-Arizona Gannon just collapsed. Don’t know what happened, but it seems like Kyler is gone with no real plan in place. Maybe resign Brissett? Maybe take another down year and just rebuild the roster? Who really knows. I don’t see them having any shot landing a big fish, I honestly forget they don’t have a HC half the time. 6-Cleveland There’s a reason McCarthy and McDaniel turned them down. Still have Watson on the books. Have to deal with the Shaduer fans and haters. Aging defense. Don’t imagine Schwartz will stay on as DC if he is turned down, so there that goes. Honestly, I think Schwartz by the only guy that wants the job.
