Carolina may not "be sold" on young (per athletic)

It's obvious to anyone with eyes who isn't engaging in self deception for whatever reason.

I don't think Fields is a good idea though. There will be other options. Sign one of the younger veterans and draft a QB to let him sit. We aren't going to be competing for some time anyways it's all about development and trending upward while we rebuild.

I think Justin Fields is still young enough to be developed into a good QB. I would love having him here with Canales running his offense.

I agree he's young enough and he has the prerequisite traits and talent you need to try to shape a franchise QB out of him. The issue is I'm just not sold this is the place to fix him. Until proven otherwise I'm not seeing Canales as the QB whisperer of sorts that he was billed as when we hired him. He had input along with Morgan on this QB room in the offseason. They chose to back themselves into this corner. And we currently sit 29th in the league in passing yards per game and 28th in points per game.

For comparison sake:

2023:

Passing yards per game - 161.2

Points per game - 13.9

2024:

Passing yards per game - 170.7

Points per game - 16.7

For all the talk about how bad Reich and his staff were that's really not encouraging. To have invested what we did in the offensive line in one offseason we really need to see better results than this through the remainder of the season under Canales.

Fields would be a bad idea if you are bringing him in to start. Unless we want to run the triple option.

Ward I don't think will be available when we are picking.

I wouldn't HATE the pick but he is a pretty wild gunslinger type. Could be Winston, could be Mahomes.

Ward will be there at No. 1 or No. 2.

Man this is the same speculation that was posted like three days ago. It’s basically an article quoting an article. They not be sold on Bryce but this article ain’t talking about nothing.

That’s said Nothing makes me wanna throw up more than an idea of drafting another first round quarterback but I also understand this was not Morgan’s pick.

    • I'm looking at the schedule and I see a 10+win season easy.  I think Carolina goes undefeated in the division.  I also believe that the Bears, Bengals, Lions, Browns, Steelers are very winnable.  Revenge game with phillips and the eagles could be a win.  Honestly only 2 games I see as chalking up a L to off the bat is the Seahawks and Broncos.
    • I guess so. Don't think I was involved with previous discussions.  Tepper is one of the newest owners in the NFL. Dan is going into his 3rd season as a GM - ever. Dave is going into his 3rd season as a HC - ever. Before becoming a HC, he was an OC/playcaller for one season total. Idzik is about to go into his 1st year as a play caller - ever. WRs are rookies, sophomores and 3rd year guys - though the experienced 3rd year guys are XL and Coker (who has missed a ton of games). TEs are guys going into their 2nd and 3rd seasons, and Tommy Tremble - though Sanders has missed a ton of games. QB has played 3 years. Chuba is an experienced RB, but Brooks and Etienne have taken very little snaps at the position. O-line is more experienced vets with some talent - which is HUGE. Need them to stay healthy. I mean the offense is very young in every aspect except O-line. You see it differently?
