Wide receivers, even the great ones (and they are rare) can get real expensive, real quick and are involved in say 40-70% of a team's plays, based on that team's particular style of offense.

An edge rusher, DT or LB can very often be involved in 100% of the plays on defense.

It's a much better, more cost effective pick to grab one of those defenders (who are easier to evaluate and plug into a system) than to spin out yet another pick on a wide receiver. We're fair to middling, maybe even good with receivers right now.

And ignoring a need in a draft might just be the dumbest way to work a draft. Really, just think about what you said.

And great defensive players are ALWAYS available in free agency, because teams usually prioritize getting their QB and WRs locked up and never hit the open market

Use our cap space 100% on defense, get a few impact players that way, and then you draft T-Mac, the best player in this draft.

You will never find a player like him hit open free agency, it’s the only way to get a true stud outside #1 WR.

Dont over think it

Draft Tetairoa McMillan no matter what

Drafting for need with a top 5 pick is dumb.

We have an entire draft to fix the defense. If Tmac is the best player on the board you take him

Yes, if he's the best player on the board.  I think some people may be over-valuing him a bit.

Sorry, we've got to build the defense. Best edge rusher in the draft or if there's a Luke Kuechly clone MLB out there.

Not this year. LB is crazy high unless you can guarantee he’s exactly like Kuechly which is impossible. Also, edge rusher is a no go in this draft. There are some DT/CBs that could go that high but there is no one close to a Bosa, Garrett, Hutchinson, etc.

If I had a hope, it would be somehow lucking into Travis Hunter to play CB and use occasionally on offense. Graham at DE opposite Brown could be fun as well. He's the only DL I’ve seen consistently at the top of the rankings. CBS had him 3rd preseason and 4th mid season so he’s been consistently at the top, which is nice to see. He also just turned 21 in September, which I’m a fan of rather than picking so many older rookies that still have to develop.

If anything he’s being undervalued

If he played for a big time program that was in the playoff hunt, he’d be viewed as a generational talent, but being on an awful Arizona team, he’s being g overlooked by most people.

Best offensive player in the draft regardless of position

Hes a rookie.

He needs to buy and use a juggs machine until his hands bleed....

With his feet nailed to the floor. Just about everything he misses is when he leaves his feet unnecessarily. IIRC there was one in the back of the EZ early in the year that he did the same thing.

I think his hands are good, he just has that proclivity to jump and make it a harder catch.

Give me the Penn St kid Carter in the first, Clemson's Carter at LB in the 2nd.

We just drafted XL, Saunders and added Coker last draft.  We also added Brooks and just paid Hubbard.

We need defensive help.

I like that combo and been doing that in mocks

Yeah I’m on board with drafting TMac. His catch radius was ridiculous when I seen him play.

I feel like we could find production on defense in R2 or R3

We can find defensive production for the rest of the draft and FA.

Tmac is that one guy who changes the entire offense. Get him and we don't have to spend big money on a FA WR like Higgins.

If Bryce is the guy you need to go get him 1 more weapon.

    • I just dont get the worry over losing a practice squad player that just went undrafted. Everyone just made their selections. The chances of a team wanting to sign him to an active roster after not selecting him is very low.  If that interested they would have taken him late to evaluate in person. As far as I can tell two qbs were signed off another teams practice squad last season and they were both going in to their 5th season.
    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
    • I don't really follow the team anymore due to a variety of reasons and consequently have largely stopped posting but I agree that this is a lovely website and community. This forum probably kept me around for years longer than I would've stuck otherwise because of how difficult it was to stop checking multiple times a day. Especially appreciate how lax the moderation tends to be compared to a lot of places, the crew here does a great job. Out of curiousity I decided to try making a new account (solely for testing purposes) to see what exactly is wrong with the sign up process. The issue seems to be that it never sends you an account verification email, thus making it impossible to complete registration. This is likely something to do with the email server upstream, hope it gets fixed. Also, lol
