I still believe in Eddy Pineiro

Every player has THAT game at least once. And the constant talk of him becoming the most accurate kicker in NFL history just had to put extra pressure on the day. 

He's still a great weapon for the team. Just put this one behind us and move on.

Not to mention, maybe there was something wrong with the kicking balls yesterday. I've never seen so many bad punts and kicks in one game. Seriously, there may have been an equipment issue behind this.

Me too. I believe he'll help protect our draft position and that there should be a kicker competition in camp next year.

I don't think so. He's another Gano. Put's up great stats on easy kicks. But can't deliver with the game on the line. We have a lot of draft picks this year and I'd love for us to take the best kicker in the draft. Enough is enough.

they said during the KC game he was hurt and it would limit what they could ask of him.   I wonder if he is still just nursing something.  Overall those were non-pressure easy kicks....which is what he built his resume on as being the most accurate kicker in NFL history doing.

Not going to sugar coat it, that was unbelievably bad from Eddy. 

 

That said, the specialist on both teams were very poor tonight. Punters and Kickers. The fact that we saw so many bad punts and kicks invites me to give him a pass, and I will for now. I'm not sure what it could have been though. It was very windy at kick, and the temp dropped quickly, but that was just a bizarre game on special teams. 

And Sam Franklin, you are a captain, please stop committing stupid penalties in one score games on special teams.

On a real note, piñero has been largely good for the panthers. I recall John kasay having some random awful games in his career where he missed extra points and gimme field goals that cost the team the game. But if he doesn’t bounce back, cut him or put him on IR if he’s truly playing through injury.

Current trend is that kickers are great until they start consistently missing FGs, get cut, and then are fine again with a new team. Not saying Eddy is at that point yet but worst case scenario, Justin Tucker will probably be available soon.

I’ve never been a believer in Pineiro. The “most accurate kicker” nonsense is because he’s almost never asked to make difficult kicks. And when he does miss the easy kicks he’s asked to make, they always seem to be critical ones. Two misses yesterday that either would have won us the game in regular time, the miss vs Atlanta a couple years ago. He doesn’t miss the easy kicks often but when he does it hurts.
