Are we the worse at picking second round picks or cursed?

Seriously.. after the Brooks News just broke i had to think.. when is the last time we hit in the second round?  Off the top of my head the number of second round busts from Clausen to mingo to Marshall to whoever else you want to name is sickening....

what's crazy is most teams find starters in the second round or atleast contributors.. we have 3 that should be on their rookie contract either not on the team or out of the league.

Let's think about what the second round often is. Guys you may have had a first round grade on fall. Other teams see issues you don't and pass. He reaches you. You get giddy and jump on him. Those issues others saw are real and now you're left holding a lemon.

The deeper in the draft we go, the more it's like "ok this guy here makes sense". The first round and 5-7 are often pretty easy. 2 and 3 are where your gambles happen. We suck at gambling.

Donte Jackson-Curtis Samuel-James Bradberry was a decent stretch.  Compared to our usual, anyway.  Too bad Samuel was always hurt and Jackson was inconsistent as hell.

      Btw... only Mitch fugging Marner has a better +/- than Key 🔑!!! And, Mitchy needed 5 more games and almost 100 more shifts to get there.

      I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.

      Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
