Is Coker WR1?

We need to have this conversation. So far I think Coker looks like the first rounder not XL. If Coker had gotten the same reps since start of the year he probably leads the team in yards and receptions. Hopefully XL can get back to his best form but right now he’s not the main WR to build around.

Jalen Coker now holds the record for most receiving yards for an undrafted rookie in Panthers history. Coker entered Sunday needing 34 yards to pass Corey “Philly” Brown, who had 296 yards in 2014.

One of the few bright spots on this team. Heck , might be the best offseason acquisition of the past two years. Which is speaks both to his talent and to the lack of talent we have brought in the last two years.

Him coming along is why I don’t really want to use our first on WR like others do. Mid rounder sure, need to prepare for life after AT.

If we were smart, re-sign him in the offseason to a 3-year extension.  Coker is only signed through next season.  If he balls out next year, he's only going to be that much more expensive.  An extension in the spring should be VERY team friendly.

He's damn good tho. At least we can count on him with XL looking like a bust so far.

Oh, and he's not a WR1, not yet at least.  That's why I would extend him at a WR3 rate after the season.  If he flames out, there's only a small amount of egg on our face.  If he balls out, then we got a STEAL.

Yes. He is a baby anquan boldin. He can run every route. He catches with his hands and is already finding soft spots in the zone just like thielen. In two years he’s going to credit playing his rookie year with thielen

when he stepped out of bounds today before the catch, he knows he fuged up and you could tell when he was watching the replay. He was pissed at himself. Not like “aww shucks” but like “this never happens again.”

That was a pleasant surprise. I knew he could run good routes and has great hands but I didn’t expect him to have that kind of top  speed

That was also a good sign for him compared to last week with miles sanders on that deep pass to XL. Sanders was just trying to pull down the safety so when Bryce threw it he wasn’t even thinking he was going to be a target. 

I think Coker was just clearing out the crossing route there (I think it was XL) and Bryce noticed he’d used a madden invisible receiver card. But he was still ready to make a play. Unlike sanders who was like “oh you’re throwing at me that’s so wild.”
