That 50+ stat is pretty irrelevant when you consider how close those attempts hug the 50 yard end. You’re comparing him against others with 60+ attempts in there. Eddie has a weak leg compared to his peers and to say otherwise is foolish.

Honestly, I'd rather have a guy who is basically automatic out to 50 and streaky when you get in that 55+ range, which is what made Eddie so good. It seems like this injury has really hurt that part of his game tho.

I mean, I hate to burst your bubble but he is 11 for 14 in his NFL career from 50+.

That would be in the top few percentile of the NFL for active kickers from that range.

Focusing on the kicker in a game like this is pretty wild.

“in a game like this” id call that pretty audacious coming from someone who was making determinations about the QB after his first career game

I think Bryce needs a Purdy type situation. If he can't be carried by his supporting cast he can probably be pretty good. If he's the one having to do the carrying not so much.

I don’t know about that.  There’s got to be a reason why one was picked 1st overall and the other was picked last.  But you could be right?  Only time will tell.

There is a lot of growth, I just hope he can develop the same chemistry with other receivers that he clearly has with AT (this isn't some big knock on Bryce for those of you looking for something to be angry about 😜)

It's the fact Thielen is a good route runner.  He gets separation in his routes and is also where he is supposed to be when he's supposed to be there.  That's the biggest thing.  Bryce's biggest strength is his anticipation.   Receivers running bad or lazy routes makes throwing with anticipation impossible sometimes.

    • Damn I liked A'Shawn too. This is basically a heads up we're planning on cutting you move.  Robinson wasn't the best but I loved his attitude and effort on the field. He held that entire dline together when Brown went down iirc..granted we finished that season as the worst rushing defense in modern NFL history.  If Wharton would have performed up to atleast half of his salary last season, I'd feel a little better about it. We do need that cap space though.
    • 13. Carolina is coming. The Panthers are well thought of around the league. Their "process" seems sound. I think their off-season will be very interesting to keep an eye on. They made the playoffs, but they're not yet knocking on the door. (Offense was 26th in EPA/play.) I think it's imperative they don't overestimate where they are in their build. They can't throw a ton of money around in FA to "make a run now". They need to be intentional about building a solid foundation. (IMO) And from what I know about the team... I think they will be. Sidenote: I have my eye on offense there, not defense. They HAVE to leave next season with a strong opinion on Bryce Young. They need to put pieces around him to do that. Can't be left wondering what he would have looked like with "better OL play" or "more pass catchers". They have to know. (That part is purely my opinion. No one told me that.) https://x.com/lindsay_rhodes/status/2027212533417869499?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA
    • Because this DL is completely reliant on Brown being available and being a stud. Without him we were the worst D in history. The Wharton signing last year reeked of desperation. He just isn't a great fit for us schematically and I think we panicked a little bit when we missed out on Milton Williams who would have been a great fit.
