Second episode is tonight

Summary for those that didn't watch:

Cam broke some dudes face in a boxing/fight challenge and that guy had to go home.  Felt it was an odd challenge to even have because their was clearly no one you could pit against Cam and it be remotely fair.   Sure he was a tall swimmer but from the jump I told my wife the math wasn't mathing and there was no one you could pair Cam up w/ and that it would feel remotely ok.

Surprise of the show is Golden Tate IMO.  Who definitely doesn't seem wired the way we would dream up an uber successful pro athlete.  Same for the gymnast.

The gymnast (Jordyn Wieber) tapped out due to their being another underwater challenge. I'd said the one at the end of the first episode was basically like being asked to waterboard yourself in the surf. That one caused her to panic so much that the thought of another one was more than she could handle.

Trista Sutter (the original Bachelorette) left as well due to fatigue. Don't care much about bachelorettes but I was wondering whether she and Newton ever discussed the fact that she's married to a former (albeit temporary) Panther, safety Ryan Sutter.

Tate just seems kind of lost post-football. That happens to a lot of guys who have never really done anything else. He and Cam had some drama between them over a challenge where Tate just mentally shut down. They buried the hatchet later after Tate redeemed himself in a later challenge.

The boxing part was pretty brutal. Newton went a little nuts on his opponent and busted his nose. Former (disgraced) Olympic track and field star Marion Jones was matched up against Travis Kelce's pre-Taylor Swift girlfriend Kayla Nicole. I thought that was kind of a mismatch. Turned out it was...the other way. Nicole broke some of Jones' ribs and she had to withdraw.

As to Newton, he was pretty heavily featured in this episode. Cam is easily the best physical specimen in the group...as you might expect. As you also might expect, his boisterous personality rubbed The straight laced, super serious military guys wrong at first, but after some initial conflict he's toned it down and actually seems to be earning their respect now.

Honestly, for Newton fans, this show is probably a pretty good watch.

It's almost like reality shows are scripted!

Yes I got hooked because of Cam.  It’s funny how taken the Special Forces staff are with Cam’s size and athleticism, you can tell he could actually make it

I don’t know how good being 6’5, 240 lbs would be in special forces. I’d think average height with above average strength would be better.

also, no one would be able to carry him out of a combat zone if he were wounded and that is a consideration that they have.

    • 5 straight completions in the 4th quarter to get into the red zone and then score a stand up rushing TD and celly in one of the best defenses faces to bring the score within 1 possession against the super bowl champs is "stunned" to you?
    • yes, if you read what I said - that was due to his record breaking 245 yard 4th quarter performance in garbage time when the Seahawks were already celebrating. If Bryce puts up big numbers in the 4th quarter, people like you are quick to call it garbage time stats but seem to get selective when other QB's do it because it doesn't fit your narrative.  also, I'm logical enough to admit that Drake is a great QB and his performance had a lot to do with his protection, play calling, and other aspects. The game does not fall completely on the QB. Just like how the Panthers were still in the game vs Seattle until Horn's penalty changed that. It is a team sport, so many factors, players, refs, coaches are involved and it only takes one thing to change the game. the obsession with Bryce is just nauseating at this point and if you pay attention on here, it's the same 10 users quoting and pieing each other. it's super weird and everywhere else you go, opinions on Bryce are trending upwards. the way the season ended, the vibe at the stadium, the performance, should have everyone excited about this next season. Idk, maybe I just look at life and my entertainment outlets differently than others.
    • Are we sure something hasnt happened to him because that seems pretty shitty to simply abandon this place
