I bet they get it done sooner than later. They learned from Guentzel

Hopefully. The Canes front office was embarrassed by the Guentzel departure.

The Canes have always held their player development pipeline in high regard. They've never bought into player rentals and between the Guentzel deal and this one, I fear they are jeopardizing future seasons for this one.

If Rantanen isn't re-signed, they've essentially given away Necas for the rest of this year and next, Drury the same, for a 5-month rentals. And a 2nd and 4th rounder, too?

So apparently his nickname is Moose.  Now we have kooooooch and now mooooooooose!

If you shout Moooooose Kooooooch in some states PETA will investigate and you might have to tell your neighbors when you move into a new neighborhood.

As mentioned earlier, I am learning the game, but it seems to me that we were falling behind a lot and, frankly, losing more than we'd like. Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems that Aho has been off a bit, but Jarvis is coming into his own--But I like the fact that a professional team in NC does not have an inferiority complex.
So my question--are they likely to sign this guy long term?  Why trade away assets for a half season?  It seems the Canes gave up a lot--draft picks, Drury, Necas for a half season.

All the rumors about trading for JT Miller worried me a bit, I just wasn’t sure he would be good fit for the Canes from a team unity perspective.

So I’m happy with the trade for Mikko, a better trade for sure. We’ll miss Necas and Drury but that’s what you have to do to put together a team with strong cup potential.

I thought so too then saw we were top 4 in points and actually a couple points ahead of this time last year.  This gives the canes a player they haven’t had since Eric Staal. And if he makes AHO better, then the team just got two super stars. Aho is is star but not a top level star like Moose is.  This is gonna be fun.

I’m not sure they aren’t out of miller yet. I bet they aren’t done with trades yet either.

Can they play Goal ?

Because we could sign Ovechkin, Crosby, McDavid and McKinnon, and our offense would still go MIA in the playoffs , and have to depend on unreliable goaltending, and your not averaging 5-6 goals a night against playoff teams

We aren't getting any farther untill we have a clear #1 Vezina Calibre Goalie, See Florida Panthers

Hate losing Necas but he was going to be moved at some point between now and the trade deadline next year. And always good to get the best player in a deal. Keep in mind that Mikko and Sebastian Aho are pretty close so may help us to retain the big guy. Now we need to figure out 2C and G if possible.
I could very well see us flipping a 1st round pick plus a couple prospects to shore these up.

I’d like to see us play and score more. Plus our D and goalie play needs to be better. Bu this is a great start.

For all of our complaining this year, we are still a top 4 team in the NHL....

Let that sink in. Adding a previous 50 goal scorer and current pace 40 goal guy is a huge shot in the arm to scoring.

With our goalies healthy I suspect we get the defensive issues in hand.

Mikko has had more 100 point seasons than all Canes players since they moved to NC.  He’s a top five player in the league.  Necas had a hot start but you’re dreaming if you think this is a lateral move.  Looks like Tlusky thinks we can win a cup this year.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
