Dolphins might be interested in Dalton

Recommended Posts

After cycling through a handful of backup quarterbacks in 2024, the Dolphins are determined to find a capable contingency plan for Tua Tagovailoa.

Jackson adds another name to Miami’s impending search: Andy Dalton, with the reporter noting that the veteran is “held in high regard” by the organization. Dalton has garnered starts at all of his post-Bengals stops, although that wasn’t always necessarily the plan.

If we don't bring him back, I'd keep an eye on Kyle Trask, the longtime backup from the Bucs who'll be a free agent this year.

Familiarity with Canales, while also being the backup for the GOAT to impart that wisdom he learned would be valuable for Young.

The Kyle trask that is slower then molasses and has attempted all of 10 nfl passes?  thats the dude we need to keep an eye on?

Didn't say he was the best choice, just said the familiarity could play a part in bringing him here. He was actually good in college and was in the running for the Heisman in 2020

being good in college is irrelevant, knowing a system is irrelevant.  He isnt good, like at all, he is not an upgrade from dalton. I suspect trask will be in the xfl next season

Holy poo after checking his stats he has completed 4 passes in his 4 year career lolololololololol.

The league said the same thing about Sam Darnold. Sometimes it's the right fit. He hasn't needed to step in because Brady and Mayfield were reliable and didn't miss games. Just saying, could be an option.

Dolphins Inquired About Panthers QB Andy Dalton Earlier This Season

According to Barry Jackson, the Dolphins inquired with the Panthers about a trade for backup QB Andy Dalton earlier this season.

Jackson notes Miami has an appreciation for Dalton’s skillset and looked into a potential trade once starting QB Tua Tagovailoa went down with a concussion in September.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
