Just saw a story on NightLine that the NFL is trying to attract more young females by playing up the Taylor Swift line. The fix is in. Just like when we had to give it up to Peyton.

There's no fix. There's never been a fix.

No conspiracy of more than three people ever remains undiscovered.

It is much, much more likely that an entity like the NFL does market research and happily taps into new streams of revenue as they appear. 

And the NFL isn't going to risk $20 billion in revenue because they want to fix games just to have some disgruntled referee or third-string special teamer write the tell-all book on how they rigged the Super Bowl.

That is the problem with grand conspiracies. They require a level of secrecy that isn't realistic.

The truth is, I think it's more human than conspiracy. The refs/umpires/game officials can be impacted by the scenarios too. I remember one player some years back from an opposing team saying he wasn't at all intimidated by the Cameron Crazies("pimply faced nerds" or something similar). But if you have ever seen the games there, it's pretty obvious more than a few of the officials get intimidated by that crowd/environment and it impacts their judgements, consciously or subconsciously.

Or think about how players can develop reputations with the officials. So guys will get calls against them or for them based on that. Coaches, same thing. 

If you wanted truly impartial officiating in ANY sport, you would have to remove the human beings from those decisions entirely. That alone may not necessarily be better, per se.

How would you ever get a "let them play" atmosphere(typically in the playoffs) from an AI or algorithm? That happens because the officials decide to stay out of the way for the most part and not call every foul/penalty.

We need to take as much as possible out of the refs hands. Remove the human element as much as possible. Chips in footballs, lasers, replay, more defined rules, officiating by committee by people upstairs with a better view. Nothing is more annoying about football than “the human element” of officiating.

Lol. WTF are you talking about? They have never for a moment hid their intentions to capitalize on the Taylor Swift bump.

It wasn't painfully obvious the first few games of incessant cut aways and announcers talking about it?

They haven't even remotely disguised their motives about drawing in Swifty eyeballs to boost their ratings and revenue. 

It's infuriating for real football fans because as soon as Kelce is gone, all those eyeballs will be gone. There isn't suddenly going to be fully circular Venn Diagram of Swifities and NFL Fans.

I don't like to brag, but I personally busted open the Professional Wrestling fraud--I called it fake and staged.  Now we know.  You're welcome.

Seriously--yes--if they can show Taylor Swift they will increase their market share--case study?  My wife.  She loves Taylor Swift and watches the Chiefs for that reason.  It is a non-threatening cult, like those who followed the Beatles.

 

On the other hand, if the news that the NFL is not putting "End Racism" on the endline of the endzones because the President is going to attend, they are not supporting racism--they just know that anything that appears to be against the President will be attacked by his followers--even something as obvious as that--so they are, in my opinion, attempting to avoid political discourse at games.  If you think Taylor Swift is part of political discourse, then perhaps you need to adjust your sense of logic and common sense.  She is remarkably successful and she supports humanitarianism.  If that is something your party attacks, then tell me more about your party.

Does that mean the game will be rigged?  Hardly.  We live in a nation where conspiracy theories are gobbled up like Milk Duds in a theater.  It is time we got back to thinking things through and questioning our sources of information.

You want a better product? Stop watching non-panthers games. Dont watch the Super Bowl. Nothing can convince me there is not a conspiracy with the refs and Goodell. The refs are why I stopped watching other games 10 years ago. Everyone needs to follow that rule if they want anything to change. Until then, the same bullsh!t will continue.

It's not wrestling but there is absolutely a finger on the scale that's beyond the human element. Hell look at the SB in 2016. Wasn't the ref wearing a broncos shirt the next day celebrating after those calls on the field?
