Chinn is 6'3" 220, Luvu is 6'3 235, Walker is 6'2 245. He is nothing like Chinn. He is not a gadget player, he is a true ILB that can rush the passer and play edge on passing downs.  He is also a leader, which we definitely need on defense, especially with Shaq gone.

You missed the point entirely.  I wasn't comparing him to Chinn.  I was saying he is a guy you've got to be creative with uses for him.  He's not a classic edge or classic inside.  I wasn't comparing how he plays to chinn at all.  I was just meaning he doesn't have a true defined role, just like Chinn.  They were awful trying to figure out how to use Chinn and it got worse every year.

I’m not sold on Tevin

No offense to anyone, but to me, he was a 3rd rd and he plays like it

Yes I get it is a team sport but I honestly do not see anything about this young player that is more than just a guy

then again, Evero’s defense does seem to have that impact on players

I feel the same way. Not many people  was expecting a 3rd round rookie LB to be consistent and play extremely well week in and week out , but you still want to see some splash plays that show that the potential is there. I saw very little of that with Wallace

That is on Chinn though. Apparently Thomas Davis begged Chinn to permanently move to LB and he wouldn't. He thought he could play DB and he can't. Washington hid him greatly this year, but he was flat out exposed in the NFC Championship game. The dude wants to play safety, but can't consistently cover. HIs rookie year, they played him close to the line and he made a few plays. He also looked lost whenever they asked him to do anything else. Washington signed him for chump change and because they are in transition, Quinn uses him to play downhill. Trust me, as soon as they can upgrade, Chinn will be done there too.

Walker is a berserker with a high motor, who can cover and rush the passer. He can fit run gaps, diagnose plays, and is sideline to sideline fast. It will be much easier for Evero to find a place for him because he is a better player period. It is funny, you saying that Evero struggled to find a place for Chinn like that is a weakness when he found a place for Luvu. And Luvu struggled to get reps outside of STs before he came to Carolina.

We specifically made him our deep coverage safety though.  He would have been fine as an in the box strong safety.

How does he not have a designed role? He is an Inside LB, he is the perfect size for that and he he can rush the passer and get in the backfired on run downs.  He has all the tools to play ILB, he is not a tweener or gadget guy. He will play more like Luvu in this system, he is just better. I don't understand why someone would compare him to Chinn and not Luvu.

    • Not in same league. Caldwell just hit a 10.00 on the RAS. 2nd out of 3830 from 1987 onward.  https://x.com/MathBomb/status/2027885023387349047 Yeah I mean Louis had a sub 9.00 RAS. Still very very good, no doubt. Louis is small, no 2 ways about it. He is likely a sub package lb in nickel packages or specialized WLB. Be fine ST gunner to start for sure. 6 foot flat and 220lb is pushing it for a starting LB. At 10 to 20lbs less than the other LBs he'd better be closer to the top in most timed drills. He's gonna be challenged when some of the wrs in the class can matchup bigger stronger faster, much less TE in the run game.  Yeah instinct matter and he has them, but that size is a massive red flag compared to many of the other LBS in this class.    Rodriguez is the LB that really climbed this week from a pure grit guy to great flash with athleticism people wrote off cause he was a QB at first at UVA. 18.4mph in the backpedal. Production the last 2 years were great. I'd be thrilled with him as the future mike.   Hill likely moved out of 51 and into the top 45 picks ( Ravens at 45 I can't imagine don't bite if he makes it there). Honestly Hill imo is a 1st rounder and I'd be ok with him as he fits the MLB we have missed the last few years. People would crow it's a reach but he's top 30 all-time I'm RAS for a LB at 9.9+ . Plus he was big time in big games when he was healthy. And that br a big check: meds.
    • Miller, Melo, Coby, Moose, and Bridges all on the floor at the same time must be a nightmare for defenses lol. Switch one out for Kon and still a nightmare. Coby really does bring a true 6th man value and looks like he could start if Melo was out after only a few games of getting his feet wet.
