Charlie Campbell... Mykel Williams?

Now, for those who don't know, Charlie from WalterFootball.com basically as a source that's allowed him to basically know who our pick is going to be for the last 4-5 years or so (if I can remember), so I track what he says about us. For the last 2 weeks, it seems he's finally focused on a player for us, and hasn't budged in his last three mock drafts... so... welcome Mykel Williams? Plus, Dan Morgan did say the following...

“Yeah, I don’t think we needed the Eagles game to understand that,” Morgan said with smile. “I think, both sides of the ball, you have to win the line of scrimmage. You have to be bigger, you have to be tougher, you have to be more physical—and that’s what we’re looking to do around here.

“We’re looking to build that defensive line like we built the offensive line last season. Give the fans a good product on the field, give us a good product on the field. And we’re excited. We’re excited about the guys in free agency, we’re excited about the guys in the draft, and we think we can fill some of those holes.”

If you're looking at what they can give you out of the gate, I'm really not a Williams fan.  He's got great measurables and I can see being a combine riser, but his work this past season wasn't impressive from what I've seen.  He's good, not elite against the run and has a LONG ways to go as a pass rusher.  You don't draft a 1st with potential and measurables weighted THAT heavily into the pick.

Last few years it seems he at least gets the top 10 spot on.

Trust his mocks close to draft as it does seem like he does have inside info.

The Ickey draft, he got the entire top 10 completely correct, even the order of the Giants two picks. He definitely is the best of the business right now.

He also locked the Panthers to Jaycee Horn 2 weeks before the draft, and most everyone here didn't see that pick coming when his name was called on draft night

    • One thing about it, he's not thinking about retiring. I found it odd that some Huddlers were taking rumors and running with them, imagining a slow down and "up-playing" injuries. Moton feels great and is still in his prime according to him, and his game is still indicative of his thoughts.  Sure, it may ultimately come down to economics, but I am sure that everyone involved is motivated to keep him in Charlotte.
    • I think the knee stuff with Moton has been blown way out of proportion. The exact quote was “It’s chronic stuff. Most linemen deal with it. But it’s just figuring out what we can do to make sure it’s limited and I’m still able to explode off it, which right now I can and I feel like I can in the future,” After a while, you start learning more about it and what can we do to make sure it’s as little of an issue as possible. I feel like I’m moving like I was when I was younger.” I don't view that as a guy who's saying his knees are on their last leg I see that as a 10-year NFL olineman saying that obviously after 10 years of playing a really physical sport, he's never truly gonna be 100% healthy again and he's gonna need to spend more time with the training staff to ensure his body can continue to perform at a high level. I think Moton has another 3 to 5 years left if he wants to continue playing.
    • So much crying. Tiresome. All of you should have had enough time to come to terms with the team picking up his 5th year...
