I love Jaycee Horn he’s a good player but I just can’t agree on making him the highest paid DB in NFL history. Has he really shown he’s the best in the league? And can he continue to stay healthy?!

I’m with you there. New deals are always at the top of the range even if not the best but I agree. Surtain has performed better and been healthy to boot. Denver’s deal looks cheap now.

I’ll say it again, we absolutely overrate our players in here. When they leave, we then say they were never good.

Horn is solid but his 4 years aren’t close to being the best CB in the league. Unfortunately, we do overpay here because we’ve sucked and aren’t a draw and he’s good enough that he and his agent knew we’d give him whatever he wanted.

He played 15 games last year and was elite.

Horn doesn't really travel though.   That IMO prevents a DB from being called elite.  He is good.   He sort of traveled w/ Nuk Hopkins and Nuk won that matchup.  And even in his most suited up season, still didn't play a full one.

At $25 million per year, Horn is now the highest paid corner in NFL history.

Cornerback rankings
1. Horn: $25 million per year
2. Jalen Ramsey: $24.1 million
3. Patrick Surtain II: $24 million

Those three are in a class of their own. No other corner in the NFL even makes $22 million per year.

Just wait.  Sauce is gonna get paid.

I’m pretty worried about injuries creeping back in especially now that he’s paid. I’m glad a guy we drafted worked out to be worth a contract like that. I hope he kills it.

people have been talking about this impending decision for some time.  People that don't like making an injury prone CB the highest paid CB in the NFL largely all had that take before this deal was made.

They shut him down out of an abundance of caution to end the season, but he essentially put a full season in last year like everybody asked for.

Let's keep it honest at least: folks that just want to bitch about how bad the Panthers have been are going to cry about this move the same way they'd cry if Jaycee got paid the same elsewhere.

    • It’s going to get wild after this Sunday.  I would assume Dave has a really smart plan.   Sorta like the AZ plan last year.    After a big turnover heavy  bad game Bryce normally reels it in.  Bryce will have one of his standard 60% for 200 days and the Bryce defenders will use that as a “ I told you he is good” games.
    • Bryce is a really smart kid and I'm sure he knows all the answers to the test but he hasn't been able to overcome his lack of physical tools and other DC's know this and play him accordingly. I think Bryce has good processing but when the correct read is the WR 30 to 40 yards down field and you have a defensive lineman coming at you what can he really do? He just doesn't have the arm to effectively and consistently hurt the defense and I think that's what's gonna do him in.  Pime example look at the INT versus Dallas last year when Thelien was wide open down the seam and Bryce threw it from a clean pocket and the ball was way short. Dc's watched that and knew that Bryce can't throw the ball deep.
    • I'd give Bryce until the trade deadline to prove he's the answer and if he's not I'm dumping him for whatever pick we can get and I'm riding with Dalton the rest of the way.  2 and a half years is enough time to determine if he can be the QB going forward so for Bryce he needs to come out over the next couple of weeks and show that. The other players in the locker room don't wanna waste another year of their careers waiting to see if you'll ever figure it out.  If you took a poll of the players in the locker room I'm sure they'd rather lose with a respected veteran Dalton who at least gives them some creditability versus losing with Bryce who the entire media will say was let down by his supporting cast when in reality it's Bryce's physical limitations that are holding this team back.
