[Bootleg Football] The 10 Offensive Gems of the 2025 NFL Draft

Ay 55:45, EJ makes the bet argument I've heard yet against taking a TE or FS at # 8... you're handing them a 4 year, $24M ish contract - fully guaranteed. With OLB, WR, and O-line making so much money, you have to ask yourself if it is worth the investment when a TE or FS can be had for cheaper. He was talking about the RB from UNC, but the point is the same.

I cannot agree that a pick is bad just because a player gets hurt. That would imply that people should know that a career ending injury will happen which just isn't rational. There have been plenty of players that have torn their ACL and come back the following season and go on to have successful careers.

Hell, this is the same team that believed in Thomas Davis after his third tear.

Way, way, way too early to declare the pick good/bad.

And there have been many players that don't come back as the same player after multiple injuries. If you don't want to completely say he is a bust, sure I can agree with that. But it is definitely trending in that direction. We will be in year 3 of his rookie contract when he sees the field again. Year 3 after two major injuries. Im not gonna ask if you resign him, because yes it is too early for that talk, but it isn't trending towards a second contract for him. But yes the jury is still technically out on him. Could he still have a successful career, yeah sure he could. Do i expect him to have a successful career with us, im not so sure.

Conclusion: We will see, but it's trending towards a bad pick/bust territory.

If we don't take a RB later because they made the huge mistake of taking one in the 2nd last year then I hope Morgan gets fired. Any GM that can't admit they made a mistake isn't it and the sooner they are gone the better. Let the young guys compete next year, lol, after the 1 year rental is up.

Yep. There will be several contributing RBs drafted in day three this year. One of them needs to be in Carolina. I'm not saying they'll be stars or starters but they'll be solid NFL players for years.

ngl... it is funny af seeing the same people that swear a competent GM can find an RB at a gas station in Round O insisting that the Panthers take one in back-to-back drafts. 😜

On DAY THREE. You know, the throwing darts at the board hoping to land roster caliber players portion of the draft. It's not like anyone is talking about spending a premium pick on RB.

What are you hoping to find on day three of the draft? A #1 WR? A star pass rusher? Solid rotational RBs are often found on day three and it would be a good use of a day three pick for us.

Just go BPA.  If it happens to be a RB later in the draft the sure go for it.  We need talent and shouldn't back ourself in any corner stating we have to draft a certain position at a certain spot.

Maaaan... if there was a draft to just ride it out with BPA, this year's feels like the one. Great depth without a bunch of top end talent.

Just go get some good players and find ways to get them on the field.

Probably signed Rico Dowdle so they can draft another DJ Johnson instead lol

That’s exactly why you don’t draft strictly on position in each round. We panicked and drafted an edge because we needed one and there was a run on them and looked how it turned out…

Yep. We knew we wanted to add one, they started flying off the board and we panicked.

After the draft, we should be able to grab someone to field punts and kickoffs and with some upside for the practice squad.

If you want a good returner, you have to draft them. If you want someone that can just catch the ball, then you go the route you suggested. And the Panthers have been doing that for years. It sucks too. The last really good returner the Panthers had was Steve Smith. It's way past time to dip into that well again.

    • The league would protect him.  The amount of poo Jerry Jones has had exposed and got away with?  The amount of poo Stephen Ross has got away with?  How long Dan Snyder got away with essentially fuging sex trafficking employees and poo???????  Taking down JR was a hit job.  You think the other 31 owners, especially the older ones aren’t blathering, blatant, ignorant ass, bigoted rich racists who have committed far worse things than Blue Jean Fridays?  The ones I named above have DEFINITELY did worse than what JR was accused of.  And do you think guys like Steve Smith would’ve been viewing him as a father figure if they felt that’s who he was?  JR pissed the league off with that last lockout situation and they made him pay.  They lined a new guy up to join their billionaire boys club in Tepper, and they prolly slid a pretty penny to Jonathan Jones to write the “expose,” to get JR out of here.  Again, all the owners I’ve listed above have been verified on record for doing worse poo, yet they’re still running their organizations, unquestioned.  They hand-picked Tepper long before JR was forced out, so he isn’t going anywhere.  Sadly.  fug the NFL.  (Also, to be clear, it’s always fug racism, bigotry, and sexual exploitation - not ever excusing it.  Just making the point that the NFL isn’t operating under this clear standard of justice applied to each and every case)
    • I was still in the throes of a contentious divorce and my job at the time had me work on Sundays.  At the beginning of the season I tried to still work around Sundays so I could see our games.  I think after Bryce came back from the benching, I said fug it.  First time in my life I intentionally didn’t watch our games, even through the Atlanta finale.  In the past, even if we didn’t live up to expectations, I would watch to still support and at least analyze player development, strengths and weaknesses, coaching, etc., but Bryce makes all of that a moot point, so I stopped watching. Again, this is asinine,  it if he is retained (still can’t believe this is even a possibility of a conversation due to how shitty our organization has become under Tepper), I will NOT watch next season until he is gone.
    • Live look at Bryce playing ping pong.
