BPA: Too Much Value to Trade Down

Your Pick at 8

  1. 1. If a trade down offer is not attractive enough to accept, which player that REALISTICALLY should be available at 8 is such a compelling value (clear BPA) that you would select?

Yea I’m not in love with any of the guys to be honest.  Not a great class to be picking 8th overall unfortunately.  It would be better to have several 2nd round picks.

I think it’s this pick 5-15ish stretch that the tough spot. There’s just no high end first rounders you typically see at our spot.  There’s a few blue chippers and then the rest are mid to late firsts at best.

It’s also why I don’t expect a trade down, but one can dream. But it won’t be much capital gained in this draft.

Is he worth it? Maybe. I know the team is seriously interested in him or they wouldn't have met with him 3 times. He's the best safety in this draft and 1 of only 2 safties that are day 1 worthy picks.

The way I see it is that the team has the option of taking a player at a position that is a huge value to draft. That's edge, tackle, qb or wide receiver. Ask yourself who in this class of day 1 picks could benefit the Panthers the most to draft.

Now look at the visits and see what positions they have put the most time in day 1 players. Two things stand out to me. They are focusing on defense and it's OLB and a safety. I think it comes down to 3 players and they are Walker, Stewart and Emmanwori. Everyone else is smoke and mirrors.

Good logic.  I see it.

Just take less value for a trade back this year. 'But the trade value chart'... just doesn't matter when an extra 2nd should be enough to move back this year given the situation. I would take an extra 2nd over any player that could potentially be there at 8 and it's not close. Let the media bitch about it, just doesn’t matter if we walk away with an edge, FS and WR in  the first 2 rounds given how close all of that talent is when looking at it big picture.

Fug the value chart and just give me a decent additional 2nd for the win. All it takes is someone falling in love with Sanders or the RB or whatever. If there was more talent in this draft then that would be a terrible idea but turning down a trade because the value was less than other years when the tellent is obviously less at the top of this draft would just show how poorly the people in charge understand this class and it's weaknesses. It would be like not finding a slot WR or RB later, just dumb IMO.

Walker- Has the intangibles, demeanor, and potential. Only negs are no big time #’s and size, but it’s not like he’s a hobbit.

Edges out Warren for me. Position value not there.

I think he had more sacks per rush rate then anyone in the draft, he just didnt rush the passer as much as the other top guys

I voted Graham on this one ( Walker on another similar one ). I think either are great picks. Walker is intriguing. I think he can be a homerun pick, but the question is how will he be used? I think with the 8th pick you want to make sure he leans more towards a master of 1 skill vs a jack of all trades. This is on the coaching staff IMO, they need to make sure he is pressuring the QB more then anything else.

Graham was referred to as "A gift from God" by Harbaugh, that tells me all I need to know lol, kid is just a football player. A dawg if you will.

They already have a tight end they invested in and need to develop. If Warren isn't gonna Come in and be a 1k yard number 1 option I don't see the value either.

    • 5 straight completions in the 4th quarter to get into the red zone and then score a stand up rushing TD and celly in one of the best defenses faces to bring the score within 1 possession against the super bowl champs is "stunned" to you?
    • yes, if you read what I said - that was due to his record breaking 245 yard 4th quarter performance in garbage time when the Seahawks were already celebrating. If Bryce puts up big numbers in the 4th quarter, people like you are quick to call it garbage time stats but seem to get selective when other QB's do it because it doesn't fit your narrative.  also, I'm logical enough to admit that Drake is a great QB and his performance had a lot to do with his protection, play calling, and other aspects. The game does not fall completely on the QB. Just like how the Panthers were still in the game vs Seattle until Horn's penalty changed that. It is a team sport, so many factors, players, refs, coaches are involved and it only takes one thing to change the game. the obsession with Bryce is just nauseating at this point and if you pay attention on here, it's the same 10 users quoting and pieing each other. it's super weird and everywhere else you go, opinions on Bryce are trending upwards. the way the season ended, the vibe at the stadium, the performance, should have everyone excited about this next season. Idk, maybe I just look at life and my entertainment outlets differently than others.
