JOE PERSON: the sense around league circles is Panthers will take Jalon Walker @8

It’s amazing how year after the year the Panthers announce to the world extremely early on during the draft process who they’re taking.

This organization is awful at keeping literally anything a secret

It is very funny how obvious we are.

If the pick were going to be Mykel Williams, considering his lack of productivity, I would think the Panthers would attend the Georgia pro day.

In fairness, Dan was answering questions being asked about Walker because so many mockers pick him.  I think, if he is only an edge, then he would become a pass-rushing specialist and not a guy expected to hold the edge.

I think he called the 8th pick a "talent wasteland" (I was listening).  Wow.

Love how we're making it obvious that we'd love to trade down while at the same time trashing the value of our current draft position. Brilliant.

I wish the Panthers would at some point stop Panthering so much. LOL

Assuming we draft Walker:

Salisbury/Athens Ga, Charlotte/Raleigh, Alpharetta, Georgia/Columbia, Mullins, South Carolina/Columbia

Our first rounders (except Bryce) have been within a 250 mile radius of Charlotte.  Heck, three of them grew up right off I-85.

Maybe our leased cars for scouts have a low mileage limit.

Too much noise about our pick being Jalon... It's a smokescreen. If I was a gambling man, I would bet if Jalon is available at #8 and we keep the pick, we don't pick him.

The Panthers have told everyone who they are going to pick a couple weeks before the draft ever since the Brian Burns draft. There are mockers who have every single Panthers 1st round pick correct for 8 years. It's possible they trade down, but they really want Walker if they don't get a good offer

I think it dates back further than that. Back to at least Shaq. I remember Igo calling both Shaq and Vernon Butler and neither made sense for us at the time given our rosters. LB and DT we're probably our strongest overall units on the team at the time.

It's almost like things don't actually change despite firing and hiring other people. But we've been assured our owner is hands off now so that couldn't be.

Everyone inside the nfl knows which team is gonna pick which player it’s not a “leaked” secret and we only care about the panthers information because we follow the panthers.

Ben Albright tweets a puzzle hours before the draft who the broncos will pick

Typically, but honestly it's just an educated guess.  We desperately need defense and in most mocks he is the top rated defender available (especially if he is an edge).  As @mrcompletely11 has posted, Dan Morgan wasn't even at his workout.  We aren't telegraphing anything yet this year (like we did last year), because I just think we are going BPA or trade down and in most mocks Walker is BPA.  If Graham falls to our pick it will get interesting...

Especially towards the top.  You just connect team needs with players who are projected to be available.  If that teams shows interest like they should it just adds fuel to the fire.

    • Outside of cerrato, I do like our draft overall. Hard to get can't miss draft picks when you pick late in the draft
    • Very True--and I am a former HS English teacher.
    • Not a Moore fan-but he had a few good games last year-but I want players that scare you--Renfrow's route running and intelligence, Legette's size, speed, and strength, AT's intelligence and route running, Coker's body control, strong hands, and abilty to win contested catches, and TMac's size, body control, and ability to find soft spots in zone coverages.  Horn gives them the ability to stretch the field and he plays special teams.   Moore has a nice smile and can dance.  He filled in well last season, but to get better as a team, you have to upgrade your players.  I think Moore is a bottom of the roster guy who got bumped when we drafted 2 WRs and signed a legit free agent.  Here is the thing--TMac makes us better because he is great against the zone--man?  Good luck with that.  AT's role can be reduced, and that is probably a good thing.  He can specialize in situational football. Coker?  Just getting started. XL?  Just getting started.  Drafting TMac was probably a bit of a wake up call, but XL will be better as the 2. Renfrow?  I see him splitting reps with AT--keeping both fresh and giving different looks. Horn?  Watch the safety cheat his side when he is in the game--I see a young Steve Smith type in him, but he has yet to play a game.  I hear that Morgan loves him.
