Nic Scourton EDGE/DE Texas A&M 6'3 257  81" span

Preseason top-10 rated guy, some had him rated late-1st, Really young kid, high upside.

A thickly built, high-motor rusher, Scourton is quick to shoot his hands, create force and walk blockers into the pocket, but the next step in his development will be diversifying his attack by setting up counters and stacking moves. His hustle also stands out in the run game and directly leads to production (29 tackles for loss over his last 23 games). Overall, Scourton is a banshee off the edge with the quickness and power to work half-a-man and wear down blockers. Rush arsenal is a work in progress, but he’ll break out a cross-chop and double-hand swipe at the top of his rush

Moves with fluidity in his lower body and loves to unleash a spin move (with mixed results)

Determined in the run game and makes offenses pay for trying to block him front-side with a tight end

Sniffs out screens and shows good read and react when dropping and covering areas

Average speed, but his pursuit effort is outstanding, especially from the back side

Earned captain status as sophomore at Purdue and quickly ingrained himself in the Texas A&M culture

Led both a Big Ten team and an SEC team in sacks over past two seasons

One of the youngest players in the draft class

Don't know much about this dude  honestly. I saw his name a good bit early in the off season but saw it less as we got closer to the draft. 

Looks like we traded down 11 spots in the 3rd round , down 11 spots in R4, and moved up from pick 230 to pick 208. So we really didn't lose much. Just some random ass pick swaps with Denver. 

His sack production does not stand out to me. 2 sacks in 2022, 10 sacks in 2023, and 5 sacks in 2024. Meh. 

Pro comparison is Trey Hendrickson, which is wild. If he ends up being that good, then this was a steal of a pick.

Ooh I like. Incredible 2023 tape, decent 2024 season at a heavier weight (280+). Some early rumblings this year of top 10 potential. Explosive motor and very young (20).

Lost weight by the draft and he seems to be better for it. Nasty spin move.

Good value.

      Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.

      I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
