They are using PFF.

PFF had him as the best run defender safety..

Well our top analytics guy either for PFF for a long time so it's white possible there isn't going to be a lot of difference.

We aren't using theirs. We have no need to. We've got our own guys

You know my favorite safety since Minter?

Mike effin Mitchell.  Marlon McCree was also underrated for his short time here….  Also really liked Chris Harris.  And they did similar things, although I think Mitchell was the most complete.  Mitchell set the tone with his physicality and that matters.  We haven’t had anyone capable of that since he left.  Between Moehrig and now Ransom, I am excited to see what our safety corps looks like.

Still feels like we don't have a free saftey on the roster. But Ransom still seems like a solid SS or nickel.

I think it's a bigger deal that we stop the run. Let the front rush and frustrate the passing game and make it easier for the secondary to control the receivers.

In a few years, you will love this pick---smart as hell and did everything they asked him to do.  His CBs at Ohio State were weaknesses, and he helped keep the defensive backs on the same page.

That Igbinosun dude in particular was a penalty waiting to happen. I'm not even an Ohio State fan and I would get mad anytime he fuged up lol.

I also got mad several times at Penn State. They had a hell of a defense, I think Drew Allar and their WRs brought down the rest of their team severely. The similarly had 2 good RBs and a good defense like Ohio State did. But did not have OSU's level of WR talent or QB play.

It's pretty clear, with FA and this draft, the agenda is don't let anyone run on us, and leave it to Jaycee to bail us out in the passing game.

Maybe they are sensing the league getting back to running the football. Panthers built the same way in the Cam years

If we can generate a pass rush we won't need all world safeties back there

PFF had Swinson above both Scourton and Princely and he was available at both picks. There were also several running backs they ranked ahead of Etienne that we didn't take.

So I don't think it's that simple.

They might have similar ranking but most likely not the same because of team fit and other factors

    • I'll say 6. I don't know that we learned a whole lot about this team during preseason that we didn't already know. We didn't play the starters enough to really get a feel for what to expect. We had one good drive against the Browns, one 3-and-out and two 3-and-outs against the Texans. That's an extremely small sample size across 3 games regardless of performance. My camp/preseason takeaways: Jalen Coker might be the best WR on this team and is certainly no worse than #2. Nic Scourton is going to be a good player for us. Possibly very good. Bobby Brown was our best free agent addition and will do more to help the defense than anyone. Jack Plummer isn't an NFL QB. Not even a practice squad guy. Having anyone other than Canales and Evero call plays was a really stupid and pointless idea. Our depth is largely non-existent, especially on defense. The three areas we actually DO have depth are on the OL, in the WR corp. and at RB. I can't fathom why Dan Morgan didn't do more to upgrade ILB during the offseason. We better hope Lathan Ransom steps up at FS because if he doesn't we have a massive hole there. For all the hype surrounding Sanders and Evans, Tommy Tremble is still the best TE on the roster. I'm only slightly less enthusiastic going into the regular season than I was a month ago. I think our starters on offense are solid and we should be pretty good there unless Bryce totally regresses. On defense, we're probably bottom 3rd in the league if 100% healthy and significantly worse than that if injuries become an issue. We badly need at least two of our rookies to become high-level players early (ideally one of the pass rushers + Ransom) and at least 2 of our free agent additions (ideally Moehrig + Bobby Brown) to be significant upgrades over last year. Call me pessimistically optimistic 😆
    • 2010 was worse. Not much worse but worse.
    • Lol since 2017 the Panthers are 47-85,    Also since 2017 the Giants are 40-91-1   Lol
