If Bryce doesn’t produce, we moving on?

The front office has fixed the offense for Bryce.  We have ZERO holes.  A bit inexperience at TE and WR (to a lesser extent) but the excuses for Bryce not to live up to his draft hype are officially over.  This draft should have been more front end heavy and more draft capital spent overall to fix our awful defense.  The fact that we had to trade up some to chase picks on defense because we took another weapon for Bryce in round1 says everything.

Yes.  He either improves or he goes.  I'm still not sold on the guy.  He looked better end of the year, yes.  But a great deal of that was simply that he had looked so bad before it would have been difficult to not look better.

BY9 was still one of the worst QB's in the league when it comes completion percentage, air yards per attempt, yards, yards per attempt . . . the list goes on.  Again, I agree that he looked better toward the end of the year, but he has a lot more ground to make up before he will be looked at as a guy who can go out and win games for us.

He seems like a great guy, and maybe we keep him as a backup, but if he doesn't get it done this year the Panthers need actively seek the answer.

He’s going into this season with no true competition for the #1

we have invested a fortune in a competent O-line

bonafide #1 RB

solid TE

Arguable top 10 slot WR in Theilen

back to back 1st round picks in WR

a OC minded HC

this IS his make it or break it year

I think is overstating things on our O that should be said if we are going to position the convo as a make it or break it thing for Bryce.  I consider this year 2 for him and you often see regression year 2.

AT is not in reality a top 10 slot WR.   We force feed a vet WR in the slot that can catch.  Which generates statistics for AT.  He is more savvy rec TE at this stage than anything.

We just drafted TMac.  You can't really count him as anything except for a promising young WR that is about to have a rookie season.  XL is on the development train. 2 promising young WRs that both are going to have to grow into legit NFL WRs.

TEs are presently a below average group.

RBs are in reality are probably a pretty average group in reality.

Where we currently stand out IMO is our OL talent.

Not that I think you said anything wrong here, but also look at it this way.

Outside of QB, I think there is a genuine argument to be made that we have a better offensive starting lineup than even teams like the Chiefs or Bills right now.

No, Bryce isn't Mahomes or Allen, but those guys would have MVP caliber seasons with our OL and offensive weapons at their disposal.  If Bryce can't have a successful 3rd season with that grouping, then it's not a good sign for his long term outlook, even if yes, some of those weapons are on the younger side and need to gain experience.

well, you got two present day GOATs at QB there....so they can make stuff happen like a 2015 Cam Newton did.  Yeah, they would all have success here.  Not sure that is the fairest point.

I mean, skill talent, Mahomes and Allen probably got the slight edge today. Maybe not tomorrow.  So it's still back to our OL being the defining different in Carolina.

I don't see any way the Chiefs or Bills have more skill position talent than we do right now.

T-Mac and Thielen are both better than any WR on either of those teams right now and yea, Cook is the best RB of the 3 teams, but I'm taking Chuba over Pacheco, and our OL might be the best of the 3 teams too.  Sure KC has Kelce and the Bills have their two TEs, but I still just think we're better suited at the skill positions right now and in the near future.

And yes, I realize they're GOAT type talents, but the point is if they'd put up MVP type seasons with our offensive players, then if Bryce is a franchise QB, he should be putting up a pretty good season with them this year, if he can't, it's a bad sign, not that he needs to also have an MVP type of season, that would be beyond the wildest expectations for even the biggest Bryce truthers.

I was checking the odds for the Panthers, and they're listed at 100 to 1, which translates to a 1.1 decimal chance of winning the Super Bowl. If I were to place a $100 bet, I could potentially win $10,000. Although I don't gamble, that's what I found out through Google. Unfortunately, I can't gamble in South Carolina. I've heard that we might get an Indian casino, but I’m not sure if they offer bets like that.

I think you just have to be in NC to legally gamble, not be a resident

I disagree on the at.  Everyone always talking down but can you list 9 slot wrs that had better production with a qb that was abysmal until recently ?  I agree with the rest but a number 1 pic qb in his 3rd year this team is plenty stacked to have a good year.  If by reverts back to abysmal by then not sure there is much hope for him.  As always nfl teams will be reviewing his film so sure it will be harder for him this year also but hopefully he put in some offseason work.

    • When I arrived at college, I was 18, not too much younger than some of these draft picks.  It was not a huge school, but there were guys on the team who were 21, 22, 23....playing ahead of me.  I was seventh on the depth chart.  Those guys have been through a few seasons, were stronger, more knowledgeable.  I was a better raw player than some of them, but those other factors matter.  As I grew stronger, more familiar with the playbook, and learned what it was like to play in college, I gradually improved and with that, I rose up the depth chart.  It took most of my freshman year for the light to come on.  Had the coach thrown me into the starting lineup day 1, I would have probably failed.    And that was college.  So I agree with you based on my experience on a much lower level.  Frankly, I think that is why so many kids drafted to fill huge gaps bust.  The teams are desperate.  Anyone who looks to fill vacancies in the starting lineup through the draft is desperate.  You draft depth to develop.  For this reason, I say, "Let Walker start for a while."  Maybe Brazzell can be our WR 4.  Throw Hunter into a rotation and ask him to do one or two things.  Freeling needs some strength and he needs to work on run blocking.
    • I see Bryce's development this way: He improved when his supporting cast improved.  TMac and Dowdle saved his arse last year, but in fairness, most good QBs have good WRs and good RBs--and good OLs.   The 2025 OL underperformed, actually. They were above average, but they should have been elite if you consider the salary cap.   As soon as we signed Lewis and Hunt, I started thinking, "That's not sustainable.  With Ickey about to get paid a LT salary, Moton and Hunt grabbling $50m per season combined, and Lewis around $17m--that would be nearly $100m and the Center just walked.  Yikes.  What does that mean?  Rico walks, Mays walks, and we do not have a top 5 WR on a second contract.  We do not have an elite TE, and only 1 is on a modest second contract. And now Bryce will demand $50m for his incremental rise to mediocrity?   So when we sign Bryce, we will get weaker at other positions.  Hunt, Moton, maybe Ickey and Lewis, will all be casualties--that is the right move regardless (not sure yet about Ickey, but he was not elite) Bryce is one lucky, entitled camper.  No competition since being drafted, and he lost his job for a while to the aging clipboard holder.  Now we are bringing in UDFAs and busts to compete with him.
    • Probably not.  If we are taking a QB, it would be a prospect to replace Bryce and not a flyer type player.  I can't say for sure, but I doubt he would have cracked the top 3-4 QBs even if he were to play this coming season.
