which is why he was a sixth rounder.  I think I recall seeing a mock where he was a first rounder--If my recollection is accurate, he fell like S. Sanders.

He was absolutely a first round talent, size power length, and athletic ability.... absolutely a beast a little crazy.... (dline is a spot you like a little crazy if they can keep it on the field.) He couldn’t the guy literally went off the rails right when he was on the verge of a massive payday.

He was a top 5 pick talent wise. He had 3 speeds. On, off and then everyone run for your life. His kraken moniker was spot on. Landing here with the veteran leadership gave him a chance but his mental issues cost him over $100 million.

I met him at an OTA when he was rookie.  I liked him, and so did my small children.  I got a photo of him with my kids, and his nylon stretch shirt was ripped off his shoulder and down his side.  I remember thinking, "This was an OTA.  He must have been battling so hard (going full speed) that the OT grabbed him and ripped off his shirt."   Normally, there is a "rule" that you stop when you are not in full pads when the other player shows that he controlled you or is in position to--like pulling up and not hitting the RBs.  I got the feeling that he was going full throttle.  Just speculation, but it was consistent with what we would learn about him.

Those people are great assets, particularly when they're defensive players, as long as you can keep them contained. But they're crazy for a reason and they're seldom able to be contained for longer than, let's see, 4.1 seasons.

John Randle was a psycho on the field, but never had any off field trouble that I can recall.

Then there's Charles Haley, who o don't recall doing anything criminal but who often seriously freaked out his own teammates in the locker room.

Man if Greg Hardy kept his head straight we would have gone 16-0 and probably dominate a defensive battle in SB 50. He would have been the juice the defense needed to force some extra turnovers.

To this day the best pass rush we ever had was Hardy and CJ in 2013/2014. Damn near every snap was relentless.

Bro, they terrorized QBs! Especially Brees and Ryan. I loved it!

From what I have read of him, some of the things he did might now be considered criminal now.

That year was good, but I think 2002 was our best.  Peppers, Rucker, Fields, Jenkins, Buckner, Dan Morgan, and Al Wallace gave us a lethal front 7, and we played a very aggressive style of defense.

Unfortunately, the offense that year was offensive.
