Dates for Training camp are released

The league announced training camp dates. 

Panthers rookies will report 7/21 and vets report on 7/22. 

Panthers will host Browns for a joint practice on 8/6 and visit the Texans for a practice on 8/14.

That better not be the case. They need to be ready week 1. The easiest part if their schedule is the first few fames

I agree, but they do these practices with other teams so they don't have to play starters in the preseason.  We've seen it for years

lmao that's a good point;

but at the same time I think and HOPE Canales learned from how he operated last year, only giving us one real look against the Bills that had people shouting 'Super Bowl'...only to come out flat.

It would be playing with fire.

Some franchises can get away with it. We are not one of them. Too much youth and inexperience.

Back to back years starting out the season with 2 road games right off the bat we need to hit the ground running to avoid another repeat of last season.

I honestly would rather play the starters more than do these joint practices.  Always scared of injuries with them

We need to play our starters two games about a half each game or 1 quarter the first and a half the second. Honestly playing a few plays coming out of the half second game would be good for us overall as a team to get ready for the opening game. I also HOPE and pray Canales learned from last season no way in hell we don’t get actual plays and real reps this preseason seeing how we bombed topener fully intact having all the new additions we have it’d be even dumber then last year because you should always learn from your mistakes.

I would like to see the Starters in the first 2 preseason games get about 2 series each.  The final game should be those that are fighting for a roster spot.  

Plus I don't expect to see any real difficult plays being run. Very vanilla

We're going to have several (4-5 by my count) rookie starters and several starters on D that were on other teams last year. They need a lot more preseason snaps, especially the rookies! NFL is a big jump from college ball. And as it has already been pointed out, we need to hit the ground running and win those early game!

I'm sorry, I just don't see what difference it makes. Preseason is preseason. Coaches know what they need to get out of practices (which are decidedly more important), and--whether we want to admit or not--preseason games can upend seasons before they even start due to injuries. We see it every single year. 

We're going to have to be patient and let the process play out. So what if we're still learning and gelling in September? It's going to happen anyway, and a quarter or two in largely meaningless preseason games isn't going to change it. Fool yourself that it makes any type of substantive difference if you want, but it's the camp, the practices, film time and all that other stuff that happens over time that makes the real difference.

I think it depends on what our opponent does. We need to play our starters as long as theirs are playing. 

I dont think it does a whole lot of good for our starters to whip up on their backups.

I hope after last preseason our 1st team offense sees at least a few more snaps.
