The Panthers have an effort problem

It seems like this is an ongoing problem with this franchise

over and over again

year after year

Of all the teams I watched in preseason, the Panthers are bottom 3

yes, I know, we all know, ‘it is pre season’ or ‘there is no depth’

however, these players should understand they are putting  their work on tape for the rest of the league, if they don’t care enough to do that, why are they even in Charlotte

Unfortunately this can happen when you don't have those dawgs that hold everyone, including themselves, accountable. You know damn sure players like Cam, TD, Luke, etc. wouldn't tolerate lack of effort and would chew your ass out if you half-assed it.

Still think we have needed a culture change since Luke retired/Cam's shoulder died. Really need Bryce to be that player

It's baffling. We've been blowing off preseason for years now acting like it's irrelevant and we'll just flip the switch come the regular season and take the league by storm. We've been approaching it like we're a contender year in and year out, not a team trying to claw ourselves out of the basement. Preseason doesn't matter if you're a contender with an established football culture and you're basically just trying to stay healthy and evaluate the bottom of your roster. That's not us. That hasn't been us for a long time. But we keep acting like it.

It doesn’t matter if you are the Chiefs or the Browns, you aren’t giving extended snaps to your best players in the pre season. All teams are 2 injuries away from disaster.

Panthers preseason record since Tepper/Rhule:

2020 - COVID
2021 - 1-2 (started 0-2)
2022 - 2-1
2023 - 0-3
2024 - 1-2 (started 0-2)
2025 - 0-2

Seems like we have horrible preparation towards the season (minus 2022).

I don't really care about the final score. I just want to see competency out of our starters and primary backups. Whose camp bodies end up putting more points on the board in the second half really just isn't relevant. But when you look at what our starters have done, it's not an optimistic picture.

as Morgan would say.....we lack "dawgs".

I will say, I do think this team/era lacks a certain energy to it.  I don't see the players rostered that provide it.  Canales is a rah rah HC.  Bryce Young is as a laid back as it gets.   I mean, who is the voice on the O side? Who is the voice on the D side?

I mean, we have some decent players.  But is Derrick Brown going to round up the crew like a Thomas Davis would if things ain't right?  Who is that voice on the O?

Carolina doesn't have an edge.  I think all teams need a couple players at this level that provide that.  Not just on the field but in house.  That remains a mystery.   Roster full of nice dudes, cashing checks.  We need a couple w/ a screw slightly loose that probably have an unhealthy relationship w/ winning/losing.

On offense the closest leaders are probably Moton, Chuba and Theilen and D Brown on defense
