So, just what is it that makes a QB "elite"?

100%

Cam elevated EVERYBODY around him. Ted Ginn Jr was nothing but a decent KR/PR before coming here. Devin Funchess was a fuggin TE in college, Philly Brown was never to be heard of again after leaving, etc. This MF was throwing dimes to practice squad players in the playoffs (who was it Kaelin Clay I think?).

Yes elevating the talent around you is the starting point for a franchise QB. Even Cam near the end before his arm fell apart was still doing that.

It's crazy how much some people have lowered their standards around here.

Well we start with the basics, physical ability. Mayfield, Jones and especially Darnold all have that basic. Young does not. Not a total loss, Murray doesn’t either, but it’s one more thing to overcome.

Murray pretty much has all the tools minus size. Big difference from Bryce who has none of the tools plus none of the size and while similar height I'd bet Murray has at least 20 pounds on Bryce, maybe more.

If Young got his ass in the weight room like Murray does instead of watching Netflix, it might help

I was more speaking to physical ability at a base level. Things like speed, muscle and weight can all be improved. Entirely possible, and likely, Murray has better genetics/build but even Murray has admitted to adjusting his training and playing style to fit his physical short comings (no pun intended).

So it was Kaelin Clay, can't believe i got the name right lol

You just knew Cam was really that dude his first game. Hell, you saw it even in that preseason game against the Bengals. He put us on his back the moment he came here. Meanwhile Bryce throws 2 ints to the SAME player his first game 🤣

You can just tell when a QB has that "it" factor about him. The team just feeds off of it.

It is really impressive how you bash Bryce in nearly every post.  It’s been clear you can’t stand him but still you continue.

The Browns have been looking for one since Brian Sipe and Kosar days.  No guarantees whoever you pick.  We were spoiled with Cam in so many ways.  We should keep Bryce for a year and pick one next draft to groom

I'm guessing that this is what the team is thinking. They really have no choice but look for another qb. I bet anything a new qb will replace Andy and one will be drafted. Hooker will fight for a roster spot against Young and whoever replaces Andy if Hooker is still here. The draft pick will battle Young for starter if Young is still here. If not it will be against the new vet.

I think Bryce has elite traits in his mind for the game, his touch, and anticipation. But he does not have elite traits in size, throw power, leadership, confidence.

He looked amazing at Bama because he had a stacked roster in the college ranks. It was easier for the offense to have flawless execution.

Now that Bryce is in the NFL it’s easier to throw off his type of game because more individual matchups are lost or disrupt the timing of the offense. And since Bryce lacks the physical traits to overcome these issues the offense just putters unless everyone is playing well.

I won’t take away all of his credit for the comeback today. Yes ARZ played vanilla but every team does that with a lead. I just want to see us play like that in the first quarter. And as the sample size gets larger it just doesn’t seem like what it takes to get this offense going is A. Sustainable, B. Reasonable.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
