A serious mid-week question:  If you were forced to pick who'll win straight-up for this week's game, who's your choice?  Carolina or Atlanta?

Pros for Carolina:  finally, a home game. Carrying over some of the excitement from last week's last 5 minutes. Division rival, chip on our shoulder to prove we can win, etc.    Cons: some key injuries, XL.  And, well.... (waves hands around) all that other stuff

Pros for Atlanta: uh, they won last week?

(reason for the question: weekly office football pool has the matchup on the sheet and I'm debating which to go with)

I think this is likely a comfortable Atlanta victory. They have a pretty punishing running attack that should give us fits.

Obviously, if Bryce turns the ball over early and often, it will be a hole we have to dig out of like last week. I don't think they are going to take their foot off the gas as much as the Cardinals did.

Much like Arizona where it seemed like we always win against them, we always seem to go 1-1 against the Falcons.

Should we lose... absolutely. Could we accidently win and cock over our draft position? Possibly

I can't see it happening this year.

I suspect we will still end up in the 4 to 7 win range. It's unlikely we do actually go 0-17, although it's certainly possible.

I'm not seeing a single win the way they've played so far. Atlanta is playing better than us out of the gate so im not seeing it. There's too much that has to change on this team to have a chance. I was thinking 0-5 starting the season. After that it's dust off your resume time in BOA.

it's sports.  Where anything can happen.  A punt returner can basically decide the outcome of a game just by muffing 2 punts.

That said, these teams lineup 5 times and no matter the site, Atlanta is winning the majority.  They are better.  They are favored by 5 at our home.  Which is more than a TD on a neutral field.

    • Canales has never been part of big YAC offenses in the NFL.  That’s not his tree.  Not in Seattle, Tampa or here.  Every O he has been associated with basically has been bottom half of the league in YAC.  That’s what Bryce needs to happen though  2 very different things
    • Well, his job is to win and make Bryce better and other stuff too but he has to have a certain amount of buy in to make that work. If it is real or he has to talk himself into believing it, as coach and leader and in the context of the present time with the whole team needing to believe, who knows? You lie if you have to.  I think you have have to separate that Canales from the detached offseason evaluation Canales. It is possible that you are correct and he is sold on Bryce. It is also possible that he isn’t, but cannot confess.
    • Ah yes, the old "accuse your opponent of what you're actually trying to do" tactic. Always amusing 😄 You wanna drop out? No problem, but you should probably do so by just admitting the conversation is over your head.  Though truth be told, even if you don't wanna admit it, I'm pretty sure anyone reading this, watching you dodge the questions and just cut and paste the same recycled answers over and over again can probably already see that 😆
