It’s time to discuss DANimal Morgan as our GM

I have been easy on him, less critical than many. I generally am more patient than many, from what I can tell over the years. I refused to criticize him or the rookie HC In year one. Started the clock on both this year.
I figured the 2024 draft would be salvaged by Jackson, Coker, CSW, Sanders. Apparently Wallace is working his way onto that list.
This season’ draft at this point looks like a grand slam. At this point we still have to beware of the ‘rookie wall’ but the young ones are growing each week.

His aggressive overhaul of the fronts each season is encouraging and showing positive results overall. We have to remember the FA have to want to be here, and we were a wreck, so there was that to contend with

He improved after his rookie year. If he can show that same kind of improvement in year three, I think you will have to be really pleased.

Too early to say one way or the other. He's shown some ability to find FA gems but his drafting needed some help. It appears Tillis and the PFF nerds helped him find some value in the 2025 draft. The 2024 draft class has some time to redeem themselves but it's looking weak so far.

The PFF guys sure seemed to help.  The 25 class were all values relative to PFF rankings except Horn. The 24 picks, especially Legette and Wallace, were... not.

Im not sold still but he has looked better the past couple weeks.  He fixed the ol and DL by making them the highest paid in the NFL.  You can't do that with everywhere.   I want to see some position groups totally fixed over a few drafts.

he prioritized what was most important

I think Horn was solely a Dan pick. He seemed to be a little more excited about getting him than any of the other late round picks.

Gut pick in the 6th.  Looking good. Stick to the playbook in the early sounds.  Get starters. Effective formula it would appear.

It's worth mentioning that the PFF pick at WR in 24 would have been McConkey.

It’s not unreasonable to say Chuba would have also done well against what are probably going to end the year as the worst defenses in the league when all is said and done. Hell in Miami players are apparently skipping players meetings

rico runs hard but picking up a backup rb in the nfl is not a difficult task. Nor is singing the top two offensive linemen

Jesus Christ

you dudes up here are unbelievable 😂

The swings this board is wiling to make on a weekly or couple weeks basis is pretty entertaining….such huge 180 degree swings on random folks

You can pretty much look ahead and spot where the next ones will fall.  Board going to be wild after the GB game.   Wild after the Rams game.  Probably wild after week 18 pending the Bucs got anything to play for.

This.

The Huddle is entertainment these days.  A couple weeks ago there were threads to fire Dan and folks were saying Mike Jackson might be the best trade ever by the Panthers.  It is entertaining for sure.

Also worth noting right now that Morgan has a QB on a rookie contract. Its going to get a lot harder at the end of the season when we have to either re-sign Bryce in the 40-50AAV range or look to FA/draft for a new QB.

Im still not a fan of how he's built this offensive line. Draft guards and centers, pay tackles. It's a rule for a reason. RBs can be found in FA. Put them behind a good offensive line and watch them eat.

We played a Dallas team without their elite WR and they took us to the brink. This team is showing life and playing better and thats a good thing. Dan has also been here with Fittershits too and contributed in how much to putting us in the predicament we're in. This year's draft is showing lots of promise. Credit where it's due. But I'm nowhere near crowning him a top GM yet.

Bryce Young is a millstone around Morgan's neck. Tepper threw him into the canal.

He'll be relieved to move on from Young, he'll finally be able to breathe.

    • If we went LB at 19, the LB at 51 better be head and shoulders the BPA on our board. I was thinking more like 1st or 2nd and then double dipping in the mid-rounda But yeah, if we went LB back to back jn the 1st and 2nd and they turned out like Star and Short I don't think anyone would be complaining. Well, not many anyway. There's always gonna be a few no matter what. LOL
    • I have been doing a bunch of mock drafts and this one interesting scenario popped up that made me question myself. I know our needs edge, mike, OT,wr, and secondary. This situation Love fell to 19 and I know we don't NEED a RB. But if we stay out at 19(I don't think we do) I don't think I could say no to love. If this team really believes in BPA and love is there at 19 who realistic is better than love at this point? Love is a top 5 talent, there is no akeem messador or Caleb banks or Kenyon Sadiq type player I think I would rather have than love. He would make Bryce life much easier, he's a homerun threat on a offense that lacks speed. He's essentially modern day Reggie bush to me and I think he could play alongside Chubba on passing down potentially as a slot and be the speed threat we really need. I think it's a bit crazy but I would be willing to wait til the second round and see who falls at edge(I think we land Chubb or loyd in free agency) maybe chase TJ parker if he falls or Rodriguez or golliday in the second/third. What say you?
