DJ Moore trade talk

Seeing a lot of it online...

There's a good amount of chatter that he wants out of Chicago, but nothing from a reliable enough source to elevate it above rumor status.

Potentially more believable though is the suggestion that the team is at least looking at trading him. Many seem to think new head coach Ben Johnson is either not using him properly or not involving him enough. Same result either way.

To answer the obvious question: No, I don't see him ending up back here...

...but him finishing the year with somebody other than Chicago does sound somewhat plausible.

What an offense they’d have with DJ Moore and McMillian. Send them Legette and a 5th

Not sure Chicgo takes that but ya never know.

Also gotta admit, although It doesn't really mean anything, I'm kinda put off on trading with the Bears right now.

(PTSD) 😕

T-Mac and DJ really would be a nice pairing that compliments each other well.

However... I'm not interested, as much as I do still love DJ and would love to see him as a Panther again, but in a vacuum, not in reality.

Trading for DJ means either XL or Coker get no development the rest of the year, and possibly even both, and really it would effectively end Horn's season too, as he'd be back to not getting a uniform on game days (and no, I can't see them trading DJ to get XL back, because again, they're a team with other holes too, no reason to trade a better WR to get a worse one back).

If we were a true contender this year, then sure, bringing him in would make sense, but since we're not, we need to ensure those two develop this year by getting the targets they need to get better.  Not to mention we shouldn't be spending money on a WR contract right now anyways, not when we have so many on rookie deals and have so many other holes on the team that need quality players.

If we're trading for any vets and bringing on contracts, it should be for a LB or DB, I wouldn't even want a pass rusher as I don't want to take snaps away from Scourton or Princely, as we need to develop our young promising talent, not bury them behind vets again.

    • I'm super excited about the guys we're getting back, and fortunately this year, outside of Robert Hunt, we haven't had any season-threatening injuries. Rico has earned the start, but I am excited to have both available.  The team is finally turning into the run-first team Canales said he wanted to be. As for JT Sanders, I think he has lost the most be being out. He is probably our best receiving TE, but with the emergence of Mitchell Evans & with him and Tommy Tremble both absolutely balling in run blocking, it will be hard to fix something that isn't broken. I'm hoping Turk Wharton can help with our pass rush. We really havent gotten to see him much due to injuries, but we desperately need anyone to provide some pass rush juice, which is what he was brought to do. I'm the most excited about Jalen Coker returning. Theilen may have been the most clutch last year, but I've watched a lot of film, and Coker was the most consistent WR we had when he was out there last year.  I think he can be an ideal #2 to Tmac. While Coker doesn't have the raw athleticism XL does, his route running, savvy, and overall football IQ simply make him better.  I think with the fact Coker can play both outside and in the slot will give our pass game more versatility.  We have been running a lot of 2 TE sets, and I think Tmac & Coker should be the primary WRs for 12 personnel. The other WRs (XL, Tremayne, Renfrow, & Horn) all have roles, but I dont think any of them can fully replace what Coker can do. I do think Renfrow will be inactive this week if everyone is healthy bc of how valuable Tremayne is for ST and as a run blocker. So happy that we are playing meaningful football heading into November. We are still almost certainly a year away, but we are absolutely moving in the right direction
