Good orgs don’t care about collecting day 3 picks.  Good teams let guys walk in FA all the time.

Ideally that is the right mindset, but plenty of good teams also sell high.

But I get it, it's a fair perspective - what does a 2026 5th rounder really do for us? If he's the key piece to netting wins for us right now, then ride him and see how much we can win.  I have no issue staying pat/soundly in what we built for 2025, with no worry of if he stays/goes come the offseason.

We have one in each round and an extra 5th as is.  Thx Thielen.

We're honestly in a position where we shouldn't be buyers or sellers midseason.

Buuut my point in prior posts- if the right offer comes along for a guy on his last contract year, I don't see why we should shy away.  It's a something to assess - the value of what he brings the remainder of 2025 vs. future value added.

There were Chuba Hubbard rumors everywhere yesterday. One “insider” claimed he was a done deal to the Patriots. You can’t believe anything trade wise this week. Everyone is trying to be like Rickey

Yep, and this "news" is pure speculation from an odds site.

As crazy as it is we are still in the playoff hunt as far as the team is concerned. Yes, fans have written playoffs off since week 1. But that's not how the team does or should see it.

It depends what teams would offer, but I don't think his loss this year is worth a 5th or a 6th. I'm not even sure I'd do a 4th (but definitely higher than that). And I doubt anyone gives us more than that...

There are times I could swear some of our fans like trading more than they do winning.

It seems especially crazy that right as some of our young players are just starting to hit their stride, it's almost guaranteed some yahoo is gonna start shouting "trade him!" 😖

A pick like that would allow you to package it to move up for a player. Say someone in the 2nd you really like slips into the third but you know won’t last and you are picking 12th in the round.
There you go, give your third and a later pick and get your guy.

Currency is currency. I don’t think this is happening though; anyone that wants to trade for a RB will want Rico.

Of course you could use Chuba to leverage more for Rico. Say no way you are trading him but we’ll trade Chuba. Make them talk you into trading Rico.

Can you provide any examples?  I can't think of many.

I live way in the past lol, recent examples escape me but the Pats cleaned up off of backup QBs there for a little while.

Ok so did they call him garbage or a jag? I haven't seen either one.

Chuba is pretty replaceable. Good but not a great player. Rico could come back to earth but you can tell by watching him that he has more burst and is the more dynamic player.

I mean, we still suck either way. Right now, Chuba's performance last season just looks like a massive anomaly. Other than last year Chuba had looked like a decent rotational RB and nothing more.

100%.

expensive and JAG

you can replace that production easily.

Paraphrasing a little, but the sentiment has been out there. If I cared enough to comb through a game thread I could find more and worse criticism. My main point is, I think he's a good player being talked about like a below average player. Also, I don't buy the "any RB will do" philosophy.

So many fall short in pass blocking and a lesser number in the receiving department.
