How bold do we want his play calling given the QB situation?

The Packers sold out to stop the run entirely too, and we couldn't risk a sack or interception. It frustrated me but Canales knows his team well

Those last two plays before the last FG, we could have burned them so hard - but it is risky with even a better QB. But not sure they would have used that strategy against a better QB.
In any case Rico had no hope of breaking through that.

You can downplay the decision to take the ball first and have field choice in the second half all you want.  But our game plan was to control the ball and give us a chance to win down the stretch.  The defensive game plan was good, and they kept the game close.  That decision was a huge factor in our win.  We got in position to win going in the direction of better field goal possibilities.

So many haters can't just enjoy the win.  It was a defensive battle, and we scored TDs while they were kicking field goals.

The Panthers had a good game plan and they won because of it.  That's on Canales.  Just like last weeks game plan.  it was terrible and it was on Canales.

I mean to be real, the offense was Rico Dowdle. There were some head scratching play calls and blown chances on offense. The wind may have been a factor, but the offense barely did enough to win.

Now the defense did excellent, especially in the red zone. That unit won the game. Big change over getting blasted by the same exact play over and over against the Bills

Fitz really bailed him out making that long kick tbh

Canales didn’t expect LaFleur not to call a TO and it was a brilliant move by LaFleur. I didn’t even think about that possibility either. With only 1 TO left it left us in a pickle and scrambling. Instead of being able to run another play or two we basically just took an extra yard and settled for a 48 yarder

Its crazy how many of the people downplaying Canales or outright bashing him for this game are the same ones who really wanted Wilks as head coach

If this is a poll, I wanted Wilks and have generally supported Canales.

I like the old school ball. Last three weeks have  scored 13, 9 and 16.  We are 2-1 lol.

Canales has coached 26 games for us. He is 10-16.

Remember that Rivera was 7-19 after his first 26 games… with Cam Newton.

Ron inherited a core of a team that was 12-4 two years prior too. Plus added Cam and Greg Olsen

Canales inherited the worst roster in the league

Honestly, I was surprised LaFleur called a timeout after that Rico run to get them in FG range. Not calling the last timeout is pretty common sense to me - you weren't getting the ball back so no point calling it to give us time to run another play

At some point we will need a QB that can burn them in situations like that. But I'll take the win against one of the best teams in the league and give props to the coaches and players that made it happen.
