This Bryce Guy (General BY Discussion in Here)

The Niners are so impressive with their ability to be a top level competitive team no matter who is playing QB and despite being decimated by injury every year. How they end up in those situations all the time is another story...but they get everything out of their players

I think today may have been the media tipping point where they stop trying to pretend like Bryce is going to come around and start acknowledging that he just sucks. We're a .500 team despite trash tier QB play. This isn't a scenario where a QB is being dragged down by an overall terrible situation. This is a scenario where the situation is dragging a boat anchor at the most important position in the sport as far as they possibly can.

Through week 9 (so not including this weeks game) Bryce is 33rd out of 35 at 3.3 air yards per attempt (that is how far the ball travels before being caught). Sam Darnold leads the league at 6.4 ay/a. Jared Goff is the mid point at 4.2 ay/a. That was minimum 100 passes thrown. The following will be minimum 200 passes thrown. Bryce is 23rd out of 24 QBs with just 16 passes that gained 20+ yards. The only worse QB is Spencer Rattler with 13 lol. Stafford and Darnold lead the league with 34. Nix, Prescott, and Goff are about the middle of the pack with 25. Bryce is last in the league for passes of 30+ yards with just 3 for the year. Mahomes leads the league with 15 and Allen, Jones, Mayfield, and Godd are the mid point with 9.

We all know it, but Bryce just literally cannot throw down field. Putting 9 players in the box not only stuffs the run, but also pretty much covers Bryce's effective range.

It's giving Clausen vibes. Which sucks because I do think Young is better than Clausen but the guy has to push the ball down the god damn field. Who cares if you throw a pick. The defense has to at least think about the deep ball so we roll the safeties back.

No one is going to take Bryce as a backup.

you need your backup to be able to come in and run the same offense.

The panthers have spent multiple years crafting an entire personnel group and offense around his limitations.

San Fran or La or whomever aren’t going to bring in a backup qb with no upside they can’t even complete the route tree.

dudes done after Carolina

He will be a 3rd string guy for a 3 QB team for a stop or two. There is always a team or two who think they can rehab a bust.
