XL is a bust

His effort is very frustrating for me.  Plays hard one game and then doesn’t give a rats az the next game.  His football awareness is bad and his hands are mediocre.  Even with top effort he might not make it.  He will bust IMO

XL is a very raw talent with questionable desire to play the game of football. Everyone can now agree on this.

He may be the smallest playing big man I’ve ever seen. He has 0 desire to sacrifice himself if it means making a play for the team. If he sees pain coming his way, he ain’t making the play and out comes the alligator arms, a flat out drop and/or a sloppy route. So he’s a dude who has very questionable understanding of the play book, seemingly little desire to play ball at the NFL level and hates contact (but is a beast run blocker, somehow).

There is no turning that around. Package him and Bryce in a trade where the other team has to agree to take both. His cap hit is the next hurdle to overcome but at least he will be tradable when the time comes.

his awareness of in game situations and his awareness of where he is on the field when hes trying to make a play are both astoundingly bad.

sucks cause he has the physical tools to be a stud.  guy is built like a brickhouse but unfortunately no one is home.

Like XL sucks don’t get me wrong but people always post these throws where he doesn’t lay out and make diving corner end zone catches. Those catches are not the norm; you just see them on highlights because they’re amazing. For every catch in nfl where someone lays out and makes a highlight reel there’s ten where a pass bounces off the fingers.

That corner also didn’t need to be that; throw the ball earlier and he doesn’t need to be Davante Adams.

XL is a bust because he can’t run routes, make cuts, has no instincts, and doesn’t seem interested in getting better. Hes not a bust because he fully laid out and failed to pull in a slightly overthrown ball against Philly.

The type of receiver who makes that play isn’t going to come to Carolina because of the person throwing the ball.

I was just thinking the team needed more running backs

Jesus Christ. Let me be more clear for you. This wouldn't be done in-season. And I never said we needed another runningback right now. BUT...

He hasn't shown the consistency or skill needed to succeed at WR. So, if I were the Panthers or any other team that acquires him this offseason, I would try him to runningback to see if he shows ability there. WRs with his skill set and build have had some success making that transition, and he may be able to continue his NFL career there.

Not tricky end around sweep poo from the slot, which he sucks at, but line him up in the backfield and let him take some legitimate handoffs.
