We're basically the 2024 Colts... a "serviceable QB" away from being a legitimate team

The defense is NOT legitimate. I think we have schemed well against some teams, but this team has real problems on defense. We are further behind on defense than offense in terms of competing, which sounds insane given our lack of offensive production, but its true. Get a QB that can complete intermediate and long passes routinely and the offense opens up, but it forces other teams to throw deep too, and we can't stop that poo. No pass rush, no backers that can cover tight ends, and only 1 corner (who got roasted yesterday).

That doesn’t sound insane, they severely neglected the defense the better part of three years.  I think you have to go back to Horn to find an investment over the 3rd round until last year.
It was pillaged for two solid years and I am not complaining about Tet but we could have traded down and invested in that defense this last draft but it went to offense.

We have a Tyler Warren comp?

We have no idea what we have with our passing offense because Bryce can barely preform the bare minimum of what is expected out of an NFL QB.

You think Tyler Warren would be on anyone’s radar if Richardson was still their starter?

To the OP: Our teams are constructed very similarly and the Colts are a perfect example of how even a middle of the road NFL QB can dramatically improve a team. The Panthers would be challenging for the top of the division with Jones at QB.

If you take Pittman and TMac out the Colts RB and WRs poo all over ours.

Jonathan Taylor is having a MVP like season but he hasn't been that much better than Rico production wise given the fact that one has only started half the games this season.

Pierce is good better than Coker and XL for sure.

They have the edge at TE.

The other guys good players but not much to write home about.

Jonathan Taylor is better. For the main reason that he's been doing it longer and more consistently. Rico has shown he can have big games but he always looks like he's on the verge of an injury.

I'd take Steichen over Canales. The Colts played well even with all the injuries Anthony Richardson dealt with and playing journeymen QBs for most of his tenure as head coach. Anyone else remember that game the Colts played against the Panthers in 2023 where Bryce threw two pick 6's?

Oh no doubt wasn't taking anything away from Taylor.

Just pointing out if we had Qb play on the level of Daniel Jones our offense could be somewhat competitive based on the pieces we have.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
