Will 5-6 wins be enough for Canales to keep his job?

That alone says a lot about your candidacy to be a HC. Let's be real, Canales really only got this job because he is buddy buddy with Morgan. Maybe he actually is not a good HC and nobody wants him?

He's been better than anyone else that tepper has hired. You fire him and who are you going to hire? No one wants to work for tepper and if he's improving the team each year, which so far he has. You CANNOT fire him

You think he’s still a lock if they lose the rest of their games? Schedule is BRUTAL and I’d wager Bryce turns back into a pumpkin next week

SF let Brissett pass for 400

we will split with TB and NO

win one of the three (rams, Seahawks, SF)

9-8

He isnt a lock but he doesnt have too much to worry about.  Part of the defense for loosing all or most of the next games will be that the teams are, as others have noted, slated for deep playoff runs.

For the most part he can say we beat the teams we were supposed to and snuck in a win or two where we were underdogs.

Bryce wrote his extension today much to my chagrin.

I don't understand this sentiment. Canales knew Bryce was going to be the QB when he interviewed for the job, in essence he believed that he could make it work with Bryce. If you don't think you can win with Bryce then don't take the job, Ben Johnson didn't jump at any job offering and waited for the right opportunity, look at him in Chicago now.

That is not necessarily true. You get a shot to get your foot in the door you take it and worry about stuff like that later. (Difference is he wasn’t going to get the offers Ben Johnson was going to get, he was not a hot name with that track record. Many have pointed out what a long shot he was).

He may have known he couldn’t do but so much with Bryce but saw that if he could turn a Bryce led team into a winner then someone would notice.

I am not saying I know what he was thinking, just that if I were in that position it might be what I was thinking.

Just last week we saw the team lay a dud of all duds against the one of if not the worst team in the NFL then all of a sudden we’re confident in them beating one of the NFC West juggernauts? Can’t play the Falcons every week who probably would have won if Penix didn’t get knocked out.

I think this team is obviously better than last year and that probably gets Canales another year, but there’s still a lot to be said about this season as they play contender after contender from here on out except for the Saints in the dome which is a tough game regardless of their record. They could easily lose the rest of their games and that would be OH so Panthers.

Yes he is IMO. Exactly for the reasons u mention. Hes saddled with a QB that is questionable and managed to  a game out of Bryce today no one thought could ever happen.

This board tells me BY9 is the worst QB in the NFL, biggest bust of all time, and there are multiple backups out there better than him. If that’s true Canales has us with a winning record and in playoff contention mid November. Yes he absolutely is our coach.

    • So true...look back at 2015 when we won 15 during the regular season and like half of those went down to the wire
    • Sounds like you’re just caping because I have already stated my intent when I posted.  Was it hyperbolic?  Sure.  But that’s what’s fun about this board.  I don’t need validation. I’ve been posting what I think, good or bad, for years.  In my everyday life, I speak my truth and stand on that.  I don’t care about validation, affirmation, or popularity.  I enjoy the discussion, good or bad. If you re-read, I didn’t say I’ve never seen a QB get stepped on.  I said I’ve never seen one, to the best of my memory, have that happen in that fashion on a 4th down and then lay there like the MedAlert lady.  And I said I brought up that play because again, how often do you see other QBs have that happen?  How often do you see QBs who are “super processors” decide to throw a ball out the back of an end zone on 4th and goal to go?  How often do you see them get squared up with a defender and fumble before even getting hit like a scared child?  He does poo that other QBs NEVER do.  Some have, but they don’t stick around for long.  The good ones NEVER do this poo.  And that’s the problem.  And again, yes, Zavala is a fuging chode and played his part in that play…  but I go back to Bryce and his limitations and this being an ongoing issue.  It’s like if it’s not him fuging up, someone will because Bryce is out there.
    • Amazing what happens when the starting qb goes out.
