If the trade value is reasonable, he would be a solid option. You wouldn't be on the hook for a big salary increase until 2027. At that point, he is easy to jettison if it didn't work out.

I just don't think he is going to be cheap and I don't think we are going to be a team that bids highly enough for his services in a trade scenario.

Him being cut(highly unlikely) is even worse. Now you gotta outbid everyone in the NFL. That's even worse.

You think he'd be happy here?

I think that is a price and attitude thing. Reportedly he was a bit of a handful for Shanahan, although admittedly not enough to not sign him to that big deal.

I also think this may be much ado about nothing. If we plays this season, I suspect they will likely not move on from him.

Sounds like he's disgruntled about something. Do we need him?  I think not, unless he's cheap.

I mean, I can't imagine he would be but that may not factor in when it comes down to it.

Yeah, that's the price/situation aspect. On the surface, we would have a very potent offense immediately. Tmac, Aiyuk, Coker and whomever comes out of the group of XL/Tremayne/Horn Jr. That's a hell of a WR Corps.

I don't think it will happen nor do I think it's likely to happen but I wouldn't be upset about it if it comes at a low cost and an easy out if things don't pan out.

Somewhat more detail, or perspective. Lavar Arrington talked about it today on his radio show. The number he was repeating was 26 million, and this has all come about due to missed team meetings and activities.

He was not aware how the team could take guaranteed money away. TJ Houshmandzadeh, a co-host on the show, said teams absolutely can if they can show a player is not meeting their contractual obligations.

Plaxico Burress, the other co-host, couldn't understand why he wouldn't fight for the money, that he just didn't care about 26 million, and it didn't make much sense.

All 3 said they would happily go sit in meetings for him and be great tutors for 26 million. They also predicted this was a precursor to cutting him, and him going straight to the Commanders to play with Daniels.

FWIW, 3 former players, but none had any particularly special or privileged insight into the situation.

I doubt he would care about the other WR's. I think he'd be pissed about the QB situation.

It doesn't matter, this guy is never going to be in Carolina so it's pointless to fret over it. This is Tee Higgins 2.0.

Yeah, I don’t disagree. He just doesn’t come across as a guy who would be happy as a 2nd option in a run first offense with an inconsistent QB. Gives off diva WR vibes. Plus, I feel like his best days are behind him. We need to use that hypothetical money on re-signing Ickey and whatever position of need we don’t address in the draft. (FS, MLB, Edge, OL depth)

From what I’ve read about this guy, he’s more trouble than what he’s worth. Don’t think he’d like being second fiddle to Tet

100% agree. Tons of former NFL examples of how receivers can be divas and ruin team culture.  There are to many receivers in the league to go after potential damaged goods.

Besides we have higher priority needs and our receiver room seems to be developing nicely.

    • If we throw any of those 5 yard check down's on 3rd and long.... So sick of seeing that poo
    • Yeah those teams were made fun of too so that's completely normal. Even in 2014 there was laughing at the rest of the division by beating them in a down year while just hoping to improve the next year while the rest of the leuge absolutelylaid it on thick like. 2014 they went 5-2 after the bye and this team is 1-3 after their bye to close out the year. I think that says why the tones are very different without even getting into the finer details. One was building towards something and the other doesn't appear that way.
    • Couple of different approaches in 24 but mine would have been to keep Brady at swing, move Mayes to guard, Corbett as backup, stay at 33 and draft JPJ as top C/G, instead of Brooks, draft Frazier. I know everyone wanted a WR and I did too, McConkey being my preference, but if the need was to protect Bryce's Achilles heel which is pressure up the middle, taking 2 of the top IOL to start immediately, move up Mayes, who's already proven he can do the job, Corbett to backup where he belongs.  Instead of Wallace in the 3rd, if we were going to risk on an injured player it would have been Wilson, top LB in the country. Use all that extra cap space from Hunt and Lewis to bring in a WR that can actually catch and run routes unlike XL and get an edge rusher and likely still have had some cap left over, 2 quality IOL on rookie deals, cap space to ink Icky and Mayes this year and a hell of a LB to boot.
