He's paying lip service to Young, as is Canales, as that was the agreement they had with Tepper when they both took their respective jobs.

They've both taken a quantum leap in their careers because they were one of the few willing to work with Tepper. 

It's literally the reason he got the job or he wouldn't be Tepper's GM.

Morgan is hit and miss. Look at XL and Tet. Look at his free agent oline guys from 2023 and then 2024 (he was the pro personnel guy in 23). 

The fact is he was happy when Young was drafted and then took the job to prop up Young while knowing all the behind the curtain details. He also has made sure there is no one that can challenge Young on the roster either. Sorry but Dan is all in on the Young disaster. Unfortunately that's a huge negative for me in evaluating Dan.

Honestly I see us getting some other teams scraps and trying to make something out of it. Yes it’s worked before, for example Jake Delhomme, then we seen currently with Baker and Darnold.

Geno Smith is a player I think could be an option. He will have one year left on his contract after this season which should be easy to get out of or for raiders to release him. Hes worked with Canales and knows his offense. Hes an upgrade over Dalton for sure and Bryce  but he’s also capable of a lot of turnovers. The raiders offensive line is horrible right now so I feel like he isn’t nearly as bad as his stats show.

 

At the end of the day he’s just a band aid to a bigger problem we need to fix. 

 

Totally agree.  They have no 'plan b' in the QB room so BY playing the entire season barring injury is going to happen.  Maybe it's some master plan by DC to prove to DT that BY is garbage??  I have no idea who will be available in free agency, but we might be attractive to some FA's with our O line, Tet, and RB situation.

I mean, I do believe the reporting of the split in house decision on Bryce.  I think it is logical that that the split was front office and coaches.  Tepper was the audience.  He sided with the front office.  But Scott Fitterer did his sales job on Bryce Young with his team.  Fitterer's team is helping shape Fitterers viewpoint.  Dan Morgan was Fitterer's #1 guy and Dan's current staff all feed the Bryce Young narrative IMO.

I would look at Sam Howell before Gino Smith. I think he got a raw deal in Washington. New coach wanted “his quarterback.” I may be wrong, but he would be my choice of the quarterbacks who would be available and out of contract after this season. He may be available for whatever pay Dalton.

What part of his game would that help? I doubt many QBs are lifting heavy in the weight room. There's a reason why Jalen Hurts' squat numbers are mentioned a dozen times a game every game. It's a complete anomaly among QBs. He's not gonna lift his way into being over 6 foot tall or having a better arm. How many MLB pitchers are rocked up like a body builder? Throwing arm strength is largely just genetics. You have it or you don't. 

I can't opine on the translation of musculature to arm strength but yeah,  it probably doesn't matter much. 

But if you want to survive in the NFL at a position that regularly takes hits,  180 soaking wet probably isn't an optimal strategy.

I think the fact that his leash has been long is the most deflating part, like what on gods green earth are they seeing to give such a long leash for sub par performance over the stretch of 3 years…..the fact that they were willing to flush 2 season down the drain without bringing in any real competition and continue the coddle fest isn’t very encouraging

Somebody will pick him up thinking they can fix him. Probably through a cheap trade with Morgan. He will play in a normal offense not tailored to him and it will be a fuging disaster.

Everyone shitting on Tepper about being impatient. He’s trying to prove he’s not impatient. Tepper in 2020 would have gotten rid of Bryce already.

He’s also probably waiting on Canales and Morgan to say they are done with it. If he makes them, it’s hard to hold them accountable later. Part of “stepping back”
