You have pretty high standards for a fan of a franchise that hasn't had a winning record in nearly a decade.

Dude is winning with a team in full rebuild mode with a traffic cone at QB.

I have been really easy on Canales. Refused to criticize anything in his first year. Knowing he wasn’t ready.
Been very soft on him this year, knowing he still isn’t ready. Knowing how huge the job he is trying to do is even for an experienced guy.

A lot to learn all at once. Play caller, one year as OC and here he is in the fire… and then on top of everything else he is saddled with Young.

But he has done some very counter productive stuff. At this point he is only staying because I highly value continuity. We have some young players who are coming along and some things about the team are coming along.

I am not really a pro Canales guy so much as a pragmatist at this point. Could go either way and would not care if he is gone as long as Bryce is gone too.

I mean you look at the guy Tepper wanted, Ben Johnson, and it's clear he's probably a better HC.

That said, he's not working with a cardboard cut out at QB. The Bears are more talented than we are (a large part of that is thanks to Fitterer). It's going to take time. I'm happy to take my lumps with Canales while we rebuild a roster and regain some goddamn pride. He's not a bad HC.

I really don’t know how people expect Canales to succeed with the fifth grader he has starting behind center every week. I hope he gets a chance with a really quarterback next year. It will be a much more fair assessment.

I really don't know how people make excuses for Canales given that we all know how bad Bryce is while having two starting caliber RBs and yet Canales still calls 33 passes and 9 runs. Canales lost us the game by putting the game in the hands of a losing QB.

Maybe he wants to make it more obvious to the world on a national stage that Bryce sucks

Miami and Dallas have the worst defenses in the league.

Packers game plan managed 16 points and won on a fluke.

they’re not a good offense.

what offense do you suggest we run then?

besides those three games and the two falcon games, our entire offense has looked pedestrian all season long

canales didnt even try to run the ball last night with only 9 carries between rico and chuba

With the options available a play action under center run first with Dalton at qb. Bryce jsut can’t make the throws you need to be able to to punish defenses for stacking the box.

for example his TD pass last night is his best throw, and has been since Canales came in. he drops back, puts his foot in the ground (double clutched for no reason but he was very unsettled last night) and throws it to the back boundary.

However, he only throws it from the 20 to the back of the endzone because there’s no safety there in that situation. Bryce really struggles identifying safeties, and I bet he does the same in practice.

you need to be able to hit that seam go route and an out route if teams are going to stack the box. None of us want Bryce to throw a ten yard out to the sideline.

i think the panthers could sneak into the playoffs but they’re gonna have to bench Bryce.

it might not matter if Jaycee is out for a while.

Not me. I want his ass gone too. He's is solely responsible for the loss last night.

We get rid of him who is going to  want to come to this sht show...nobody reputable, thats why we have his azz. I'm not exactly enamored with him but players have to play and execute.... if they can't thats a talent problem.

I find the idea that Canales is the best we could do, valid.
A lot of the reason for that is Bryce. You have to be desperate to accept that situation.

Remove Bryce and dangle the opportunity to bring your own QB in, I think the candidate field expands.

I’m out on canales, this is like the 3rd or 5th game where it’s clear to run the ball and put it in our best players hands and he goes full pass game extraordinaire

Seems like he’s confused on wether to trust young or not, before the half we’re burning clock with 3 timeouts and a chance to get in fg range, constantly chasing points for no reason, these are bad mistakes by a hc, you get in games that matter and these mistakes are glaring, like they have been

Dude is screwed.  Go all Steve Wilks and win a couple more games in spite of Bryce……the org is going to keep him tied to Bryce.   You got to at some point just call games as they should even if it means losing to get rid of Bryce IMO

    • Then Dan Morgan should be on the hot seat. Wasting a first and second rounder in a pivotal year is unforgivable.
    • They addressed D in free agency in a big way (Edge, ILB) and they signed a starting OT and a player they think could be a swing OT in reserve.  They have claimed to be adding "Weapons" to the offense.  I think that will be their focus.  I agree 100% that we need a T, but a reserve, developmental OT in a weak (at the top) draft does little to address that weakness in 2026.  If they are telling the truth, a reserve developmental OT is not a weapon.  The will draft a WR if that statement and their actions in free agency are accurate.  That does not mean we ignore OT--I just dont see where he takes a T if he is filling holes. As a coach, I am concerned about OT, but when I look at the roster, I see bigger immediate problems. S: We are OK if you want Scott for another season. Not ideal.  There is also talk of Smith-Wade being moved to S.  If so, we need a CBN. DT: Who took Robinson's job?  He played a lot.  All DTs (NT-DE) were average to below average, (except Derrick Brown) including 280 lb wharton.  We need a DT (my preference for the first pick, to be honest)  I am guessing a DT will be our third rounder? ILB:  Unless we want Wallace out there in coverage, we need a compliment to Lloyd.  I think Lloyd's starting mate is the second rounder. (speculating)  This pick is likely to occur in the second round because it is for a starting position. WR:  Some are fine with what we have.  sIn 2025, Coker had 3  TDs on 394 yards.  Legette had 3 TDs and 363 yards--and only 1 drop.  I love Coker, but neither should make us feel secure about WR with those numbers.  A lot depends on both stepping up in 2026, but Canales has been screaming weapons.  Could he mean Tight end?  That depends on how good they feel about Coker and XL. Center:  You can get a player ready to start relatively early in the middle rounds.  Very similar to the OT situation but I think C may be more of a priority right now than OT.   Tight End:  They seem to like Delp from Georgia who projects round 4. CB:  There was some talk of moving Smith-Wade to S (to learn for a season with Scott, maybe?) and that might require adding CB depth inside. Tackle?:  I agree that we need one, but this draft is simply not strong at the top at T.  The ONLY way to get a quality OT that is still developmental is to take one in round 1.  Canales has all but said we are not doing that.  But after the first 40 picks or so, they pretty much level out for a good while.  The fifth rounders and the third rounders are about the same.  For that Reason, I am guessing (It is all guesses) that they take someone like the OT from Boston College or Memphis.  Work with the OL coach (OT specialist) for a season.  I dunno
