Probably deserves its own thread but remember that unsportmanlike penalty we got? The one responsible... was Dave Canales. Thankfully didn't matter but still...

All it takes to make Bryce Young look good is to hand the ball off 40 times, force 3 turnovers (one of which takes away at minimum a field goal), and score a touchdown on defense.

Canales is absolutely hamstrung by Bryce Young, period.

I think head coaching in the NFL is learned. I think he responds to his mistakes. That's all we can really ask for.

It hasn't been anywhere even close.

Canales learns from his mistakes. Many coaches don't.

I put a lot of value in that character trait.

I go back and forth on Canales. If he gets this team to the playoffs though, I'll be a believer.

playoffs would be nice

winning record will also be nice (it was totally not expected this year, especially after being a laughing stock last season)

As I see it, Dave's biggest problem is that he makes reactionary over-corrections game-to-game and has trouble altering the game plan on the fly if it's not working. Example, the Saints successfully bottling up the run made him abandon the run for SF, where he figured Atlanta Bryce would show up. After that first quarter, he should have gone full Rico time.

Hopefully he's learning.
