Dane Brugler’s panthers mock pick

I really dont see this pick

Can never have enough big men but i would think Edge, best oline or best linebacker

Id be fine  if the whole  draft was  best available linemen for depth    Oline getting beat up, older, and free agents

Also panthers might finish with a win or two more of course

15. Carolina Panthers: Peter Woods, DT, Clemson

The Panthers were ready to pounce on Mason Graham had he slid in last year’s draft, and they could look at defensive tackle again in this year’s first round.

Woods needs to turn the “almost” moments into more impact plays, but he is a nimble big man with a lot of promise to develop into a game-wrecker.

I think there's positions that are too valuable to a team's makeup that we have a need for and I think should weigh heavily into the pick over pure-BPA.

1. ILB (Huge need)

2. OT (Moton will not last this build, we need his heir and if we're keeping Bryce, this line needs to be the engine)

3. EDGE (Guys are showing promise but if a stud is there, go for him)

If we assume Evero and his scheme remain in place, he'd technically be either a nose guard or a 3-4 style defensive end. Not necessarily a pass rusher, but a guy with the potential to play alongside Derrick Brown and make our defensive line a stone wall.

I can get on board with this, but I'd hope we also make other offseason moves to improve our pass rush.

This would remind me a lot of when Star fell to us

Woods is a baller this would be a great pick

I think our biggest need is EDGE/Pass rush juice, this would help with that

Second biggest need IMO is MLB

Tied for 3rd is TE/FS

Other than edge those are good positions to "need"

I think need is always factored into the BPA equation. I mean, of course every team is always going to claim their draft pick was the BPA on their board. It's not like a team is ever going to admit that they passed on perceived better talent to take a player based on need but I think "BPA" really means "BPA for our team" and that factors in things like roster need, scheme fit, etc. that aren't necessarily related to pure talent level.

    • I feel the same way. Bryce hasn't proven himself to be so good that he would clearly lap anyone that we'd bring in the compete for the starting job. I think the team is actually afraid to do that. If Bryce goes down does anyone think Kenny Pickett is solid option to replace him?. We can control him for 2026 and 2027. The problem is 2028. Unless he takes a massive leap forward ability wise, I don't see how Carolina can justify paying B.Y. $50 million a year. So far, Bryce has not shown that he can CONSISTENTLY carry a team. He needs to be carried by a strong offensive line, running game, pass catchers and a respectable defense. If he's lacking any of those things I don't think we can make the playoffs in 2026/2027 unless the NFC South is as bad (or worse) than 2025. Unfortunately, athletes and agents have EGOs! When he has a chance for a 2nd contract his management team will probably insist on a "market deal" and feel insulted if they don't get one. That leaves a couple of options if his play hasn't significantly improved. 1) Let him walk and test the market. 2) Franchise him for the 2028 season if you're still not sure about what to do. 3) Extend him to a team friendly deal that pays him below the "current market" which would allow the team to continue to build a solid team to support him. 4) Over pay him and pretty much ruin any chance of becoming a consistent contender. The last option is the LEAST DESIRABLE ONE. The 2026 season is a pivotal season for Bryce and the Carolina Panthers. The success of the next 5-7 years could ultimately be decided on how well plays the next 2 seasons.
    • Thank god BigKat can't buy it because I'd be gone immediately
    • Drake Maye ended up putting almost 300 on them lol. Bryce was stunned from the beginning to end. I know that's an easy comp for the Bryce truthers but no one else put up those puny QB stats against them all season long.
