I will say, I do think there's a version of Bryce that could be really successful as a high-volume passer in a spread-based offense built around quick throws and timing-based intermediate throws with deeper throws schemed up around them.

I actually think the power run based offense we're running is a poor fit for Bryce as it requires him to play under center far more often. It's a very traditional offensive approach whereas I think a scheme that spreads defenses out and lets Bryce distribute the ball quickly with anticipation and accuracy is the sweet spot for him.

The key, of course, is to find a way to run the ball efficiently out of those formations. Our personnel right now (backs and OL) aren't good fits for that style of offense and I'm not sure it's a scheme Dave Canales favors very much either.

I root for him, and I hope for the best, as does essentially everyone. But that doesn’t mean you can’t call out flaws and bad plays. And that’s what a lot of people get wrong.

I hope I’m wrong and that he continues to improve a lot, I just doubt it. But I’ve been wrong before

No, you're right. It doesn't mean you can't call out his flaws and poor play. But it also doesn't mean you can't admit when he plays well and shows improvement.

Not you personally, just in general I mean.

I think that depends on whether you think he's done developing. If he continues to improve as he has over the last year and a half for another season or two (especially with his deep passing) we'll really have something.

I know there are questions about how high his ceiling actually is, which I think is the real foundation of the debate about him, but at this point I don't think it matters much because we're not moving on from him for at least another season and likely another 2 seasons. So wherever side of the debate people are on we all might as well sit back, root for the guy and hope for the best.

298 yards per game, 20 points per game

to

306 yards per game, 19 points per game

What has been clear, is the improvement from 2024 to 2025 that isn't Bryce Young.  We have wins this year because we went from historically bad defense, to NFL average defense.  That's a HUGE jump.   Offense remains inefficient, low ceiling.....and basically hang their hat on making 2-3 plays a game and that going our way at an unstainable rate.  So many of the look at X game for improvement....is the Panthers O and Bryce not being good for the majority of the game and just catching a play or 2.

We all know I want Bryce gone.  But if Bryce isn't gone....you need a new OC, new skill talent and have to take all sorts of steps to fix this O if we are ever going to matter.  Because we do not have good offense.  Everyone should be able to at least agree the offense is not good enough and this is a really quirky season.

No. Most of our losses are because Bryce can’t play like a normal QB.
Really man, you will blame anyone other the. The sub-par player we have behind center.
Bryce is going to prevent us from ever getting to and winning a Super Bowl.

No most loses are because we are subpar roster with average coaching. Panthers have done a good enough job at preventing themselves win a SB for 30 years

Yeah, but Ace-hole is trying to call people out for "hating," and actually rooting for Bryce to fail. Huddlers, unless they're just stupid, aren't actually rooting for Bryce, XL, Evero or anyone to actually fail, they're actually rooting for the opposite. That's what Joe is saying.

You can criticize players, even to the point of wanting them "upgraded," without wishing that they fail. Love and hate, criticism and praise, are not necessarily a static propositions either.

At the end of the day, Bryce has been clutch this season at times. He's played like sh¡t at times as well. I try to live in reality. I don't think Bryce is going anywhere based upon perceived improvement. If you gave me a button to eject him, I'd probably push it with little hesitation, as I don't believe that our offense should be limited by his physical inadequacies, but I'm not the one in charge. Knowing human nature and the FO, I can easily see them giving Bryce (Evero and even Legette) another season. With that being highly probable, I think we should target a young free agent with some upside that has shown incremental improvement (e.g., Trey Lance or Malik Willis), and I'd also target Drew Allar as a day three priority. This way, we can still push Bryce and have some back-up plans.

We agree here dawg. I'd love for Bryce to succeed as would all huddlers. I have not seen a single huddler hate Bryce for anything other than his play on the field / potential / skillset. He hasn't gotten any of the irrational hate having nothing to do with football that Cam got. And yeah I understood going into this season with Bryce again as there weren't a ton of options, but man we missed the fuging mark on upgrading at backup QB with someone who could actually push Bryce. Bryce had zero pressure on him with a 100% washed up Dalton being the only other NFL caliber QB in the system. That absolutely needs to change this offseason. Ideally with an actual starter upgrade but that seems extremely unlikely due to not having many FA options and a bad draft. But at the very least with someone like you mentioned, young/upside and/or day 3 pick in the draft.

Another note, we have a top paid and top performing OL, great young talent at WR incl. likely OROY, great RB group, average all around TE group, offensive coach with creativity in the system and good play designs (poor situational playcalling but still I put out current offensive coaching staff over Shula who held Cam back for instance). Not the absolute best situation for a QB to be in, but still a very good situation around him. And yet we have a bottom 8 offense (6th lowest points scored). Imagine taking a victory lap for a QB leading his team to the 6th lowest points scored in the league and the 22nd highest passer rating (despite being asked to do less than many other QBs; i.e. Bo Nix who isn't great either and has a slightly lower passer rating but Sean Payton actually lets him try to throw the ball deep and has him throw significantly more than Bryce). Crazy
