It is a popularity contest. 

The selection does have meaning though. It is also 1 of the criteria that is considered for the HOF.

The game does not have any significance.

The team hasn't been to the playoffs in nearly a decade. That's why they don't get primetime national coverage. To the victors go the spoils.

Right, the context was what would DB need to do as a Panther to get in the pro bowl.

Again, I know he deserves it.  It’s not a question.  He’s most likely the best DT in  the league.

The game itself is barely watchable.  No one has played a serious down in the Pro Bowl since Sean Taylor (RIP).

It should be treated like All-American team in college and let the skills competition/Flag football game be the attraction.

DB was actually #3 in the fan vote, for all those hating the fan vote. 

He got dropped because of player and coach voting.

Regarding the fan vote, that will almost always be the determining vote. Compare how many fans vote, compared to coaches and players. It's millions compared to thousands I would guess.

Personally, haven’t watched the Pro Bowl in 10 years at least. It is a bs football contest. It is like a promotional trial copy of a football game with a lot of features disabled.

Pro bowl is a joke and meaningless, yet they still use it as part of judging whether players belong in the HOF, etc.

Derrick Brown is one of the most dominant defensive linemen in the NFL right now.  The Pro Bowl needs some adjustments.
