Brad Allen now clams we could have chosen to replay the “backward pass” down

If the NFL cared they’d make all flags reversible by a replay team. I guarantee you that you’d see the best officiating you’ve ever seen and most of the time replay assist wouldn’t even be needed.

But that would require the NFL giving up the small amount of control they have left to influence games in certain situations.

The MLB has decided to take their umpires out of the game in hopes that it’ll bring fans back but it’s unlikely the NFL ever will.

There’s too many sheep that blindly follow the NFL no matter what.

I’m sick and tired of Canales being a major pussy. The refs can walk all over him and the team with no expectation of Dave fighting back. Rivera was the same way and look how they ruined Cam. I’m out on Canales.  I was holding out hope that he’d piece it together but him not standing up for his guys when it matters most is getting exhausting

Canales is a member of the millionaires/billionaires club. Why would he rock the boat and get kicked out of the club?

The NFL would gladly get rid of the refs if a lower cost and effective method were developed. Then they could bust a union and rid themselves of employees.

Or maybe they know and don't care about making it more fair.  Maybe controversial calls generate buzz and more eyes on the league in the short term.  Who knows what their motivation is other than max profit.

I thought contact was legal in the first 5 yards of the pass play.  And they said the backwards pass went out of bounds, which sounded like, "Let's make some poo up."

The rule is anything past 1 yard is offensive pass interference, however the rule is also the push off has to be to the body.  TMac pushed off the helmet.  By rule, it was NOT pass interference.  More importantly, but the way they call the several thousands downs of football per season, it wasn't offensive pass interference.  It was, to be frank, a call intentionally made by the officials to negate a very big play to help the Bucs win.

    • I'd hold on to Walker - we have no OT depth at all. Freeling is a block of clay - all the tools are there and he appears to have a great attitude. He needs serious work on his technique to realise his potential though.
    • From my watch last night: They weren't trading out of 19 unless it was a daft offer once Freeling got there. They were clearly antsy to get Hunter - and Minnesota actually called to offer the trade down. They weren't trading out of the third round pick once Brazzell fell to it (and Canales would have been happy with him in the second round). They traded back a lot on Day 3 - even if Morgan 'Babe Ruth'd' it with Lee, Hecht and Wheatley; they clearly weren't the only guys they would have taken at those picks. I'm curious to know which player caused the reaction at the start of day 2 (Dan Morgan): "of course they'd pick him"
    • Watching this confirms that this staff and front office is super high on Monroe Freeling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gotta a real chance to win the starting LT job in camp. If he does, we can look to flip Rasheed Walker to a contender desperate for tackle help.   As for Ickey I still really like him and wanna extend him but based on how the staff was talking about Freeling it might be time for ickey to start taking some practice sets at guard if he wants to stay here as we are gonna have to have figure out a solution for the contracts of Lewis and Hunt.  My preferred scenario for the Oline in 2027 is Freeling-Ickey-Hech-Lewis-Moton.
