So why was Canales hired again?

The first game of the season against the Jaguars and thier new rookie HC starting his first game and Canales was outcoached. Against the Saints and their new rookie head coach he was outcoached - twice.

Watching the last several games with the questionable play calling, to say nothing of the lack of any consistancy in any area, I'm starting to wonder if he is up to the task.

Looking over his record with TB and Mayfield is interesting.

Here are Mayfields numbers with Canales verses Coen. The highlighted row is with Canales. As you can see, Mayfiled improved significantly in every catagory AFTER Canales left: yardage was up by 500, comp % was up 7%, TD's were up by 13 etc.

Then when you look at TBs' rushing numbers that year under Canales, it gets even worse as Tampa was dead last in rushing with Canales.

DEAD LAST

There is no doubt the Panthers have improved but I'm begining to wonder if Canales has hit his ceiling already.

Our options for the HC position were limited, particularly by our own stupidity. Steichen had a poor virtual interview so we just ignored what he had been doing in Philly running a potent offense.

Canales wasn't on anyone else's radar. He's never been a HC and doesn't have the credentials to be an OC and HC. He was brought in to fix Bryce. It was a condition of being hired that Bryce was going to be his QB. No qualified HC is locking into a historically bad QB as his only option.

DC is here because Tepper likes a certain type of person in charge and that's one he can tell what to do that won't push back.

Dave Canales is Dan Morgan's buddy from Seattle.& then Dan Morgan convinced David Tepper that he had a friend that could maximize the talent of Bryce Young by creating an offense specifically tailored for his certain type of skill set / strengths

& that's why Dave Canales is the head coach of the Carolina Panthers ...just saying

hey everyone Bryce just needs the right coach.

Lol, because he threw for over 200 today. I understand both sides of the argument. Would they say the same thing if Bryce had thrown for 100 yards and two picks today? He didn't though. He actually had a pretty good day, and it did look like play calling was more of the reason. And that's what we cannot seem to figure out. How much is BY and how much is Canales being the OC? Either way, we're still in purgatory.

I think your giving DM too much credit tbh.  Our owner has no idea wtf hes doing. He may be smart af when it comes to being an investor/raider but as an NFL owner hes dog poo. Like really bad at it.

DC probably was the only coach that would have even wanted to coach here after meeting Tepper.  I have never met him personally but he seems like a dick, figuratively and literally.

I have zero faith in him ever bringing Carolina Panthers a Superbowl.......ever

Yeah, I don’t know. I am not a fan of Bryce’s in terms of him representing the NFL team I support.
Canales… man I have been very lenient. He has finally gotten under my skin with his never ending supply of “championship” opportunities.

He has worked it out so that somehow, you can fail, but don’t you know the next week viola there you are again, in the midst of yet another championship opportunity.

Because any decent HC wouldn't tie themselves to both Bryce and Tepper.

Also Steichen's poor interview was from a Panther's leak so he probably just told them the truth and that was labeled 'poor' also known as correct in better organizations.

Bryce didn't have a bad game? Have you seen the offense required to have him under center? Lol. 14 points lol

I’ve been saying this. Dave is supposed to be an “offensive” head coach when our offense absolutely sucks ass. After two full years I still don’t know what our offensive identity is. We are certainly not a running team (we want to be). The only thing we do well is the 0-5 yard passing game. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would focus and be happy if our qb had a game over 200 yards because it was so rare. Dave had ONE year of play calling and he wasn’t good that year!
