Same for me. I think a lot of it has to do with expectations and 2003 being the “first time”

 

2015 was supposed to be a coronation. 2003 was an underdog run.

Both teams were not expected to be great before the season - in fact many people thought we were screwed when Kelvin Benjamin blew out his knee in training camp. First three games were not impressive either with the wins coming in close games against Blake Bortles, Ryan Mallett and Luke McCown. Josh Norman's pick 6 in the first game and the amazing leaping pick in the endzone of the third game kept us from potentially starting 1-2. Week 4 was more defensive excellence with 4 picks of Winston. We really didn't start looking like the favorites until the Seattle 4th quarter comeback.

I was working at circuit city at the time and we all watched the Panthers and rams game on the big tvs in the TV section. No one was working.. Customers weren't buying. We all just stood over there watching OT

Fair and true. I just know by the time the clocks struck 0 in SB50 I’ve never been more disappointed in my life. Felt like it was ours for most of the season.

Same… that 2003 season was such an unexpected Super Bowl run… 

 

I went to most home games that season. Two of my best buds in the world are twins and their family has season tickets. Their Mom never wanted to go, so I always got the invite. Was at the Cowboys playoff game… and then once we made the SB, they got tickets with the team and they told me I had to come with because I was “the good luck charm”. Unfortunately our luck ran out… That 4th quarter, man I really thought we would pull off the upset. But the Kasey kicked the ball out of bounds… and to be fair… I think Brady would’ve still marched down the field to set up the GW FG… what could’ve been. But those Cardiac Cats were special, and truly laid the foundation to what Carolina Panthers football embodies.  The birth of “Keep Pounding”…. 2003 Panthers… always and forever…

They were just so scrappy.  Before that season I was a fan of the team.  After that season I was an absolute maniac and never looked back.  They created an entire generation of die hard Carolina Panthers fans.

I’m at GSP and this gave me chills. Imagine sitting next to some kid on a flight who whips out a Lego set. I’d take my chance with a judge

SB50 was worse, IMO.

The two big memories that stick out from both was watching the 2003 game like 6 months after when it was being reaired on cable and genuinely, delusionally thinking "maybe it will be different this time." That's how traumatic that ending was.

But, I almost spent like $25-30k to go watch SB50 because I was so sure of the victory. Denver was so far and away the worst team we had faced all playoffs. There was no way we were gonna lose. Then I watch this game in a sports bar in bumfug GA, Cam a GA native and all these stupid rednecks jeering against Cam and cheering the shell of Peyton Manning's retarded ass. I was so fuging furious after that game. I am still mad about it to this day. But, I am damn sure glad I didn't spend that $25-30k.

I was just happy they got into a SB in 2003. I went to SB 50 and it broke me. I never looked at football the same after that game. Great time outside of that with 2 family members who are no longer around but that game was brutal. Ron not changing anything or adapting to the situation. Refs making crappy calls. Poor quality playing field. Bunch of rich turds who only watch 1 game a year around uustalking about the things they own and do. Then we lost to a decrepit Manning. Just brutal. Thankfully we got the tickets at face value.
