Panthers have a Jalen Coker problem.

They have to pay him he's a great WR and he and Bryce have great chemistry

Piggy backing off what @LinvilleGorgementioned, I don’t think Canales puts much stock into individual players so much as he values his precious scheme.

circumstances are obviously unclear and age is a factor but Thielen had good chemistry with him too.

otoh he loves “his guys” so who knows people are complex shits difficult

It’s insane. Some would have never stayed regardless, but the talent sieve is real.

Baker, Sam, Luvu, Butker, Reddick, CMC, DJ, Joe Brady. I’m sure there’s more, but that’s all I can come up with right now.

I sincerely hope Coker isn’t next. Just imagine him going somewhere like the Patriots or Saints.

Even Cam.

Just hoping Bryce is the next one. I’ll take my chances. It isn’t about what he does at that point it will be about what we do. Same as with Sam, Baker, Cam….

If we do well, it doesn’t matter what they do.

Jesus what has happened to ya'll. A guy has one good game and all of a sudden we either need to sign him to a long term deal or he's going to hold out. The very guy who has been injured 50% of the time he's been here over the past two seasons. What good is someone if they miss half the games.

I said it several weeks back that I though Coker was the best receiver at this time but he has to prove he can stay healthy first.

And all this crap about Bryce holding him back is absurd.

Let's see:

Theilen had his best season since going to the pro bowl in 2018 in 03 with Young as his QB.

TMac is odds on to win rookie of the year with Young as his QB

Coker, an UDFA, is looking like one of the best receivers from the 24 draft with Young as his QB

But yeah, Young is holding them all back lol.

That chart is misleading, Coker only had 3 games with over 80% snap count and 1 game with over 90% snap count, that sample size is way too small for a contract or to be put in this chart with WR who play 90% snaps on a regular

Or he holds out. Happens literally all the time.

If nothing else, pride shouldn’t allow him to play for a team paying him less than Xavier legette.

While it's not impossible, it's much different when a star/established player holds out for more money vs. a UDFA that has maybe 2 million in career earnings (before taxes). Not sure he has the luxury to hold out when he has made such little money so far in his career

Tet and Coker in KC would go for 1500 and 1200 yards respectively, easily

Yeah right. The last receiver with the Chiefs to go for over 1000 yrds was Tyreek Hill who went only went for 1239 yrds and that was back in 2021. Heck, if TMac would have had Hills catch % (69.8%) instead of his 57%, he would have been close to that this year. And Coker having 1200 yrds only playing 8 games would be pretty amazing but whatever.

Name these ERFA that hold out all the time. Name 2....or even 1.

    • People remind us of that all the time. By year two we probably had a better OL, in sum, than Cam did most years. We have good running backs. It isn’t all a tale of completely dysfunctional woe, with Bryce having no help.  Every Bryce person seemingly, loves to tout the big time throws and all their stats, okay. That PFF page on him says 4 games of 16 regular season games with at or above a 100 passer rating, qbr, whatever it was. 11 games with under 200 yards passing including one with 40 yards net. Seahawks.  They have him ranked 23d of 45 that they ranked. Putting our team’s QB 23rd out of 32 teams.  In what people claim as his best season. That is officially number 1 alright, of the bottom third in the league. And they pick up the year option.  He may do great next year. Or he may sit right where he has been mostly sitting  - mid to low 20s.    I understand we are committed to seeing him under center yet another make or break season.  Thought we just went through one. Weill be doing that over. Mulligan. My question, f he is no better than 20th next year… do we have to do this again? in 2027?
