Adam Schefter: Panthers getting trade calls for Andy Dalton

Recommended Posts

This is interesting. Tua’s QB coach was just hired. He is probably getting cut.
Not that I want him, at all, but it might be something to keep in mind as an outcome.

I was a fan of Andy, over Bryce, but that really fizzled last season. I don’t know who Andy would be ‘over’ any more.

edit: I know that if I were a QB with any kind of game, competing with Bryce, even in a faux competition, might be a job I would be interested in.

I think Dan realizes we no longer need an older brother--we need a competitor.

Dan and Dave have been saying over and over; "we want a competitive team".  It is past time for the QB "leader" to do what everyone else is doing.

I think, I mean if its me....Im not counting on BY to save my job.

This coming year is one of those fork path super different deals for not only the team but many Panthers, coaches, and staff.

If BY isn't "him", and Panthers win 3 games..... whole new everything minus owner is incoming. About the only safe player would be dbrown and maybe tmac...

This has to be the year--and I think there are some good QBs whose stock price is beaten down in the draft--I am guessing there is one they like on day 3.  But this pamper Bryce mentality has to end before he gets a big deal--take off the training wheels and have a Plan B.

Raiders, Titans, and Saints would actually make some sense in picking up someone like Dalton, for the same reason we got him for Bryce.

Teams who don't have a chance at staying competitive if their 1st or 2nd year QB goes down anyways, so have a vet backup who can help their young QBs off the field and expedite their mental growth of being an NFL QB.

Now, if I'm those teams, zero chance I'm giving up even the last pick in the draft, or even like a 2028 7th rounder for him, but I do think it would make sense for those teams to look at Dalton when he gets cut.

    • Great point.    I would lke to add that there is another QB on the roster who was terrible over the middle--Kenny Pickett.
    • I don't think this is the year for Carolina, unfortunately.  I think they will have to make a decision on the QB position-all we know is that Bryce has year 5, but a long term deal has not been signed--yet--and they would be smart to take a "wait and see" approach.  I have not kept up, and I see a path to upside for Bryce, but I do not think we have aggressively pursued a QB when our QB was mediocre to worse than mediocre.  yes, his numbers are improving--but he has adapted by eliminating what he does poorly and not improving on what he does poorly.  Just my take and I have no data to support this view.   Basically, we go as Bryce goes, so the approach is not to bring in a QB to have him compete until we find one, but it is to make Bryce as good as he can be--is that good enough? Season ticket holders buy the hope of winning rings, not winning 8 games. Last year, Bryce had a resurgence.  Take away TMac and Rico Dowdle.  How good was he?  I still have hope.  Not a hater of plan A, but a hater because we have no plan B.
    • Yeah man, I've been here for a very very long time. Couldn't even begin to tell you what year. Maybe 2004 or 5? I've never really been super active, just enjoy reading everyone's opinions and discussions. I'll chime in from time to time. I have had a few different accounts over the years. It's always been a fun place for me to check in on my favorite team. Hopefully we can keep the place running for a long while still. I also would like to recommend bringing back the Lovely Ladies page!
